Looking for something to watch this weekend? SR has compiled binge-worthy recommendations for all the major streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, Paramount+, Disney+, Peacock, and Apple TV. Here are three of the best shows currently available on Hulu.
Chad Powers
Despite mixed reviews, Chad Powers is still a standout new sports series on Hulu this fall. With only six episodes, the entire first season is perfect for a quick weekend watch.
The show centers around Russ Holliday, a former college quarterback trying to get his career back on track. He pretends to be someone else – a player named Chad Powers – and joins a losing football team. The series was created and executive produced by Peyton and Eli Manning, with the character of Chad Powers originating from a comedic sketch by Eli.
Okay, so Chad Powers didn’t exactly wow the critics – it’s sitting at 57% on Rotten Tomatoes. But honestly, the audience loved it – 84% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.6 on IMDb! If you’re a football fan, or you enjoy a good sports comedy like The Longest Yard, or even if you’re just a fan of Jon Heder from movies like Twisters and The Running Man, I think you’ll have a blast watching Chad Powers this weekend. It’s definitely a fun watch!
All’s Fair
The Hulu series All’s Fair isn’t getting great reviews, but it’s become incredibly popular – though for many of the wrong reasons. As of today, it’s the most-watched series on Hulu worldwide, largely due to attention surrounding its star, Kim Kardashian.
Despite being one of the lowest-rated shows ever – currently at just 3% on Rotten Tomatoes – this new legal drama is surprisingly the most popular show on Hulu right now. While critics haven’t been kind, viewers seem to enjoy it more, giving it a 66% audience score – hinting that there might be something worthwhile beneath all the online jokes.
It seems like the buzz around Ryan Murphy’s new show, All’s Fair,—whether people are genuinely curious or just want to see how critical the reviews are—is actually helping it gain attention. With only five episodes currently available (and four more coming soon), it’s a great choice for a weekend binge.
Rivals
In contrast, Rivals is a highly praised Hulu original series. It boasts a 95% rating from critics and a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as a 7.9/10 rating on IMDb. The first season of this 2024 drama consists of eight episodes.
Rivals tells the story of Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham, two influential men in 1980s England locked in an intense and escalating feud. The series is adapted from Jilly Cooper’s novel of the same name, and fans can expect the second season to arrive in late 2025 or early 2026.
Let me tell you, if you’re searching for something genuinely fun to binge on Hulu, look no further than Rivals. I was completely hooked! It’s a really stylish and quick-paced comedy – a perfect escape if you’re tired of all the heavy crime dramas and scary movies. Honestly, it’s just a really enjoyable, crowd-pleasing show that I highly recommend checking out on Hulu.
