With so much great content available on Apple TV+, three shows really shine. What makes them perfect for this weekend of January 16-18, 2026? All three are launching new seasons right now, making them ideal for a binge-watching session.
I’m so excited about what Ebaster has put together for this weekend! They’ve really picked out the best of what’s hot right now – I can’t wait to dive into a hilarious comedy that’s coming back soon, a seriously impressive spy show everyone’s talking about, and a brand new thriller that I’ve heard is absolutely unmissable. It feels like they’ve done all the work of finding great shows for me!
Shrinking
Apple TV’s Shrinking is a fantastic blend of comedy and drama, and it’s gaining popularity again in the U.S. With an Emmy win under its belt and starring Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, now is the perfect time to catch up before the third season premieres later this month.
Whether you’re discovering it for the first time or revisiting it before the new season begins, Shrinking stands out as one of Apple TV+’s most emotionally resonant and powerful series. It tackles difficult subjects with honesty, all while keeping a consistently funny and sometimes daring sense of humor. That’s why both critics and viewers agree – it’s a truly excellent show.
Tehran
If you enjoy realistic and suspenseful spy thrillers like The Agency on Paramount+, you should definitely check out Tehran. The third season just started airing last week, with new episodes released every Friday through late February. It’s a series you won’t want to miss!
Season 3 of Tehran welcomed renowned actor Hugh Laurie to the already impressive cast, which stars Niv Sultan as Tamar Rabinyan, an undercover Mossad agent. Set in Iran’s capital, the city where the Tehran Nuclear Research Center is located, Tehran is widely praised as one of the best shows set in the Middle East and a thoroughly gripping thriller.
Hijack
As a total movie and TV buff, I’ve been checking out everything new on Apple TV, and honestly, you need to binge Hijack this weekend. Idris Elba is fantastic in it! Season two dropped on January 14th, and they’re releasing new episodes all throughout Winter 2026, so there’s plenty to watch.
The hit Apple TV+ series Hijack returns for a second season, picking up a few years after the events of the first. Idris Elba reprises his role as Sam Nelson, this time facing a high-stakes hijacking on a subway train in Berlin. With a new cast of characters and an unpredictable storyline, Hijack is currently the most popular show on Apple TV+ worldwide and is a must-watch this weekend.
