Tommy Lee Jones Breaks His Silence Following Daughter’s Death

Actor Tommy Lee Jones, known for his roles in films like Men in Black, The Fugitive, and No Country for Old Men, has released a statement after the death of his daughter, Victoria Jones. Victoria, who also appeared in Men in Black II, was found unresponsive at a San Francisco hotel on New Year’s Day and was pronounced dead. She was 34 years old and is survived by her mother, Kimberlea Cloughley, and brother, Austin Jones. The family is deeply saddened by her passing.

According to E! News, the Jones family released a short statement saying they are grateful for the support and ask for privacy during this challenging time. This follows a statement from the hotel’s Michelle Heston, who told PEOPLE that everyone at the hotel is deeply saddened by the incident that happened on January 1, 2026. She expressed their condolences to the family and confirmed they are fully cooperating with the police investigation.

Police audio revealed the incident was reported as a medical emergency – a “Code 3” – related to a possible drug overdose and a person experiencing a change in skin color. Officers arrived and determined one person was dead at the scene, according to a police statement. The official cause of death is still under investigation.

I remember reading an interview with Victoria Jones, and her story with her dad, Tommy Lee Jones, always stuck with me. She was born in September of ’91, and she actually acted with him in Men in Black II and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. He’s incredibly proud of her – he said she’s a really talented actress, has her union card, and is fluent in Spanish. Apparently, when she was a baby, he had her nanny speak to her only in Spanish. But the funniest part? He actually fired her from one of the movies! She had a super early call time, 5 a.m., and one morning she just refused to get out of bed. He tried to explain it was work, but she wouldn’t budge, so he let her go. Then, the crew secretly woke her up and rushed her to set just in time – without telling him! It’s a great story about a dad trying to be firm, and a little girl just wanting to sleep in.

During the year before she died, Jones was arrested on multiple occasions for resisting the police, and for possessing and being under the influence of drugs without a legal prescription.
