Tom Holland’s New Spider-Man 4 Suit Could Set Up Venom & Avengers: Secret Wars

In the upcoming movie “Spider-Man 4,” or as some may know it as “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” Tom Holland’s new suit could potentially introduce a Venom-related surprise in either “Avengers: Doomsday” or “Avengers: Secret Wars.

With Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Fresh Start officially kicking off filming, fans have been given their first glimpse of Holland’s revamped suit. Although details about the movie’s storyline remain scarce, this stylish costume and the fact that production is underway certainly pique our interest!

In the upcoming storyline, it’s yet to be determined what will happen with Spider-Man; but, the fact that he’s acquiring a new costume may hint at a possible revelation related to Venom.

How Spider-Man met Venom in the Avengers: Secret Wars comics

In Marvel Comics, there have been two significant events known as Secret Wars. The first occurred in a 12-issue series written by Jim Shooter, Mike Zeck, and Bob Layton during the 1980s. This story unfolds when a cosmic entity named the Beyond transports numerous Marvel characters – some good, some evil – to a planet he created called Battleworld. Once there, they are ordered to fight each other, with the directive being “kill your enemies.

As a dedicated cinema enthusiast, I’ve got to say, Battleworld is jam-packed with an array of weapons, technology, fortresses, you name it! In the heat of this event, when my Spidey suit took a beating, luck was on my side as I stumbled upon a handy gadget that could mend my duds. However, activating this device unleashed a symbiote, which enveloped me and bestowed an all-new, sleek black costume.

In the Secret Wars, you won’t find Venom physically present. Instead, it’s after Peter Parker’s return to Earth that things change. The symbiote was attempting to form a permanent connection with him, but he managed to separate it from his body. Later, this same symbiote bonds with Eddie Brock, leading to the creation of Venom.

The Spider-Man 4 suit could be setting up a new Venom storyline

It seems unlikely that the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars will follow the storyline from the 1980s comics. Instead, it’s more probable that it will draw inspiration from the event series by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić, which took place in the 2010s. Nevertheless, there might be subtle references or tributes to the original Venom storyline in future Avengers films.

In the realm of Earth-616/Earth-199999, I’ve witnessed the existence of Venom, just as we saw Tom Hardy’s character, Eddie Brock, pay a visit to that universe at the culmination of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Not only did he make an appearance, but before departing, he inadvertently left behind a remnant of the symbiote, adding to the ongoing Venom saga.

The possible unveiling of the new Spider-Man costume in Spider-Man 4 could be the one that merges with the symbiote. It’s not yet confirmed if Tom Holland will appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, but fans are anticipating his involvement, and a debut wearing an all-black suit would undoubtedly spark lots of discussion.

Furthermore, if Sony’s Spider-Man universe seems to be at an end currently, it might pave the way for a Venom/Spider-Man collaboration, as hinted by Hardy during the release of Venom: The Last Dance. Perhaps we could see Knull resurface in this scenario? Given the vastness of the MCU, anything is possible.
