According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, Tobey Maguire is expected to reprise his role as Spider-Man in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. This news has sparked renewed debate about whether Tom Holland will also be included in the movie.

There was initial confusion about whether Tom Holland would be in the new Avengers movie because his Spider-Man story was reset after ‘No Way Home.’ The spell that erased people’s memories of Peter Parker meant he might not be involved in the first battle against Doctor Doom. While one report last month said Holland wouldn’t be in the film, other sources mentioned possible reshoots planned for Spring 2026.

Recent reports detail a fan sighting of Tom Maguire in London in September 2025, during filming for Doomsday, which was wrapping up production. Because his Peter Parker seemed to return to his own universe at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, this could be his second appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, pending confirmation.

Online speculation grew after images appeared to show a bloodied Andrew Garfield, dressed as Spider-Man, in front of a green screen. Marvel hasn’t confirmed or denied the authenticity of these images. This new wave of rumors follows previous announcements that the studio plans to include characters from different universes, including the X-Men, who were previously part of the Fox studio.

In 2023, Andrew Garfield shared his excitement about returning for No Way Home, saying he was thrilled when he first received the call.
