Timothy Busfield, known for his role on the TV show The West Wing, surrendered to authorities after police in New Mexico obtained an arrest warrant for him related to accusations of child sexual abuse.
A warrant stated that 68-year-old Tim Busfield was wanted for two counts of criminal misconduct involving minors. He was accused of repeatedly inappropriately touching twin boys over a two-to-three-year period while working as a director on the Fox show The Cleaning Lady. The warrant detailed accusations of Busfield picking up the boys, touching them in private areas, and tickling them. According to Us Weekly, one of the boys allegedly feared reporting the incidents because Busfield was the director and he worried about retaliation.
Just before turning himself in, the actor stated he intended to address what he called false accusations, maintaining his innocence regarding the allegations involving young boys. This information comes from a video recorded at his lawyer’s office and shared by TMZ.
He insisted he would fight the accusations, confident he would be cleared with the help of his strong legal team. He believed the situation was fundamentally unfair and that he would ultimately be proven innocent.
After the accusations came to light, Warner Bros. said they will keep working with the police during their investigation.
We prioritize the health and safety of everyone on set, particularly the well-being of young performers. We investigate any reports of inappropriate behavior immediately and completely, and we take necessary steps to address any issues found.
