Timothée Chalamet Confirms Dune: Part Three’s Record-Breaking Filming Timeline

Timothée Chalamet has confirmed that filming for Dune: Part Three is officially moving forward, marking a new milestone for the film. He will reprise his role as Paul Atreides in the third installment, which is based on Frank Herbert’s second Dune novel, Dune Messiah, published in 1969. This continues the adaptation that began with the two-part film series based on Herbert’s original 1965 novel.

I was so excited to hear Timothée Chalamet mention in a chat with Adam Sandler (as reported by The Hollywood Reporter) that they’ve already finished filming Dune: Part Three! Apparently, it was the quickest shoot of all the Dune movies so far. The first one took about four months – they filmed from March to July 2019. Part Two took even longer, running from mid-July to December 2022. It’s amazing how quickly they got Part Three done!

Based on Timothée Chalamet’s schedule and other sources, filming for Part Three lasted from July 8th to November 11th, 2025. The first Dune movie took 130 days to film, and Part Two took around 151 days – making it the longest shoot of the three films. Part Three required 126 days of filming.

In addition to Timothée Chalamet returning as Paul Atreides, Dune: Part Three will also feature Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides. The film will introduce new cast members Robert Pattinson, who will play a currently secret role, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa as Leto II Atreides, and Ida Brooke as Ghanima Atreides.

Anya Taylor-Joy hinted in August 2025 that filming for Dune: Part Three could finish by the end of the year, and Timothée Chalamet has now confirmed that it did. This gives the film over a year for editing and other post-production work before its planned release on December 18, 2026 – the same date as Avengers: Doomsday.
