There’s a lot of excitement among fans that Sebastian Stan might appear in Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II. Many are hoping he’ll play the iconic villain Two-Face, and he’s become a popular choice for the role as fans eagerly anticipate the sequel to the 2022 film.
Two-Face is a major villain for Batman, and represents a personal defeat for the hero. The upcoming film, The Batman II, has a chance to create an even more compelling version of their rivalry than what was seen in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.

Sebastian Stan’s Time In The MCU Might Be Over, But He’s Perfect For This DC Villain
Stan Could Be The Greatest Cinematic Two-Face Yet
For fifteen years, Sebastian Stan has portrayed the Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, proving his ability to play complex characters who shift between friend and enemy – a skill perfect for the role of Two-Face. He also physically resembles Harvey Dent, and with effective makeup, he could convincingly become the villainous Two-Face.
This role offers Stan a chance to really shine and embrace a more flamboyant style, something he couldn’t fully do as Bucky. Two-Face, with his dramatic flair – like letting a coin decide everything and his outfits that highlight his dual personality – is a much more theatrical character than the Winter Soldier, allowing Stan to have a lot of fun with the part.
Beyond his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sebastian Stan has proven he can convincingly portray characters with significant makeup requirements. He received both critical praise and an Academy Award nomination for his performance in The Apprentice. Two-Face is an ideal villain for a future Batman film, and Sebastian Stan would be a great choice to play him.

The Batman II Needs Two-Face
In the Batman comics, Two-Face embodies everything Batman has failed to protect in Gotham City. The fact that a former friend became a major enemy is a burden Batman will never escape. Although Batman has personal histories with many of his villains, he uniquely feels both sympathy and sadness for Two-Face.
Matt Reeves envisions a three-movie arc for his Batman series. Now that he’s established the world, he can focus on bigger storylines in the next film. If Stan plays Harvey Dent, Reeves might not immediately turn him into Two-Face. He’s considering a slower build, showing the strong friendship between Batman and Dent before anything tragic happens.
Two-Face has been in Batman movies before, but those versions were either too silly (like in Batman Forever) or he wasn’t a central character (The Dark Knight). Now, director Matt Reeves and actor Sebastian Stan have the opportunity to create a truly memorable and impactful Two-Face in The Batman II – one who can be a compelling villain on his own.
