Rosamund Pike discusses the prospects of The Wheel of Time Season 4

Rosamund Pike recently told Collider she’s sad about the cancellation of The Wheel of Time, but remains hopeful it might find a new home on another platform. She admitted she’s “grieving” the show’s end, but also expressed optimism that another studio might recognize its potential and revive it.

Pike explained that the show faced difficulties during its initial stages, leading to a less-than-ideal first season. She acknowledged fan criticism, agreeing there were several reasons for the shortcomings, including the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and changes in important team roles. However, she noted that the team learned from these challenges and delivered a significantly improved second season.

The show really hit its stride in the third season, according to the creator. She said the team finally found its rhythm and demonstrated what the show could become. Season 3 was a strong, well-made production with excellent performances, which attracted many talented actors.

Pike also talked about why the show was canceled. She wondered if starting in a different place might have saved it, but wasn’t sure. She believes they were likely canceled because networks are always eager to promote new shows and quickly move on to the next big thing.

Pike shared that the cast and crew are still very connected after the show’s cancellation, remaining close with regular dinners and messages, including with showrunner Rafe Judkins. While she’s open to revisiting the story in the future – feeling they now have a strong understanding of the source material – she acknowledges that the show is likely finished.
