Be warned: this story shares the outcome of Snoop Dogg’s last Knockout competition, which was broadcast on November 24th. You can watch the episodes by subscribing to Peacock.
The Knockout rounds of The Voice Season 28 are over, and 16 singers are moving on to the Playoffs. Traditionally, this is when viewers began voting for their favorites. Although live public voting during the Playoffs is no longer part of the show, this season introduced a new element called the Mic Drop, giving viewers some say in who continues.
You can now vote for your favorite contestant to represent us in the Rose Parade! Let’s meet the four finalists and see what they’ve achieved.
What Is The Voice Mic Drop?
For its 29th season, The Voice is planning a big shake-up with a “Battle of Champions” format scheduled for 2026. But even this season, host Carson Daly has introduced some exciting new twists. He started with the Carson Callback, giving a rejected artist a second chance at an audition. Then, during the Battle rounds, singers were able to choose their own teammates. And now, a new element called the Mic Drop has been added to the competition.
Here’s what happened: Each coach selected their favorite artist from the Knockout round – their ‘Mic Drop’ pick. Now, those four artists are up for a public vote, and the winner will perform at the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day. Let’s meet the finalists!
Max Chambers (Team Bublé)
Max Chambers’ incredible performance of Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t You Worry ’bout a Thing” has many fans believing he has a real chance of winning the competition. Michael Bublé recognized his talent immediately and was thrilled to have the 14-year-old on his team. During his audition, Chambers sang “I Want You Back” by the Jackson 5, and then shared that he actually played a young Michael Jackson in the Broadway musical MJ The Musical in 2023.
While the Mic Drop vote doesn’t determine the winner of Season 28 of The Voice, if Max Chambers wins, he’ll make history as the show’s youngest champion. He’d be even younger than Brynn Cartelli, who was 15 years old when she won in 2018.
- Coach Quote: At 14 years old he exhibits a mastery well beyond his years.
DEK of Hearts (Team Niall)
Fans of The Voice have often discussed whether it’s fair to allow duos and trios to compete. I believe they add beautiful harmonies and enhance the show, and I enjoy watching them perform. The coaches seem to agree – DEK of Hearts recently earned a Four-Chair Turn with their audition of Jo Dee Messina’s “Heads Carolina, Tails California.”
Kollin Bailey, Emily Clapp, and Dylan John – known as DEK of Hearts – impressed the judges on The Voice with their covers of Mumford & Sons’ “I Will Wait” and Lady A’s “What If I Never Get Over You,” ultimately winning their Battle and Knockout rounds (as seen in the video above). If they win Season 28, they’ll be only the second trio to ever win the show, following Girl Named Tom’s victory in Season 21.
- Coach Quote: The wall of sound they create when they sing together in three-part harmony is unlike anything in music right now.
Aaron Nichols (Team Reba)
Reba McEntire often brings together musicians from various genres, but Aaron Nichols is a true country artist. His powerful performance of “Hurricane” by The Band of Heathens really resonated with me – as a Louisiana native, it made me incredibly homesick! I’m now completely captivated by his unique, bluesy voice.
You know, looking back, Chris Stapleton’s performance of “Cold” was seriously the song that put him on the map – it was like the perfect introduction to who he was as an artist. And then, to really seal the deal with Carrie Underwood, he absolutely nailed a duet of Elvin Bishop’s “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” during the Battle Rounds. It was a total showstopper!
- Coach Quote: He’s a show dog, and he would do a great job at the Rose Parade.
Yoshihanaa (Team Snoop)
Finally, there’s Yoshihanaa, the last artist selected in the Knockout round. This singer from Florida won her Knockout battle with a beautiful performance of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s classic duet, “You’re All I Need to Get By.” Snoop Dogg was so impressed, he said he had to drop the mic for her, because she practically did everything else perfectly on stage.
Yoshihanaa first impressed Snoop Dogg during her audition with a rendition of Deborah Cox’s “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here,” and she continued to shine by winning her battle with “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” She reached the top four on Snoop’s team, but now she’s hoping to make it all the way to the Rose Parade.
- Coach Quote: She was in full control. She showed America what she is and who she is.
How To Vote For The Mic Drop
You can now vote to send one of four artists to perform live at the Rose Parade on January 1, 2026, before the Rose Bowl game. Voting is available on The Voice Official App and at NBC.com/VoiceVote. Each email address can only vote once per method. Voting closes at 7 a.m. Eastern Time on Friday, November 28th.
The winner of the Mic Drop challenge hasn’t been announced yet, as next week’s playoff episodes were filmed in advance.
Just a reminder, this vote isn’t for deciding who wins Season 28 of The Voice. Your votes here don’t affect the artists currently competing. All four singers will still move forward to the Playoffs next week, no matter how people vote in the Mic Drop.
It’ll be fun to see if the singer who wins the “Mic Drop” challenge also wins The Voice this season, or if fans have someone else in mind to win the whole competition. Don’t miss Season 28 continuing next Monday, December 1st, at 9 p.m. Eastern on NBC, and available to stream on Peacock the following day.
