The SNL Exits Aren’t Over, As Another Long-Time Cast Member Leaves The Show Ahead Of Season 51

It seemed like we had seen the last of the Saturday Night Live departures, but lo and behold, they weren’t quite finished yet. As the 2025 television lineup prepared for Season 51’s premiere, it has been disclosed that Ego Nwodim will not be making a comeback following seven seasons on the show.

Her leaving signifies the second instance of a veteran cast member departing, following the announcement of Heidi Gardner’s exit. According to Deadline, Nwodim decided to move on from the show herself, stating as such.

The most challenging aspect of an amazing get-together is determining when it’s time to call it a night. However, following seven incredible seasons, I’ve chosen to part ways with SNL. I am deeply thankful to Lorne for the chance, to my fellow actors, writers, and the crew for their extraordinary talents, backing, and companionship. Each week on that stage taught me more than I ever thought possible, and those memories, along with the laughter, will stay with me forever.

Nwodim’s departure is the fifth instance of a cast member leaving this year. The exits began with Devon Walker announcing he wouldn’t return after spending three years on the show. Similar to Walker, Michael Longfellow and Emil Wakim, who had also been part of the show for three and one season respectively, have decided not to return as well. These cast members were all relatively new additions to the show.

Heidi Gardner and Ego Nwodim both served as longtime cast members, spending eight and seven seasons respectively. As they prepare to depart, they are now recognized as the longest-serving cast members to say goodbye.

More to come…
