Apple TV+ is making a name for itself with high-quality science fiction, even though it doesn’t have as many shows as some other streaming services. Recent hits like Murderbot, Silo, For All Mankind, Foundation, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and See have drawn viewers, but it’s Severance that’s really captured the audience and consistently ranks among the most popular shows on the platform.
As a huge TV fan, I have to say Severance is a phenomenon on Apple TV+. It’s been in their Top 10 for an incredible 651 days as of right now – almost two years! The only show that’s stuck around longer is Ted Lasso with 683 days. Now, Apple TV+ doesn’t release tons of new shows daily like Netflix or Prime Video, so it’s not a perfectly level playing field. But even so, for Severance to stay popular for this long, especially competing with other great sci-fi like Silo and Murderbot, is seriously impressive.
If you haven’t heard about the show Severance yet, here’s the deal. Created by Dan Erickson and directed by Ben Stiller, the series stars Adam Scott as Mark Scout, an employee at Lumon Industries. Mark has undergone a procedure called Severance, which completely divides his work and personal memories. However, a chance encounter with a former coworker makes him question everything about Severance and the company itself. Here’s what the show is about:
Mark manages a team of office employees who’ve had their memories split – one set for work, and another for their personal lives. When a new coworker shows up outside of the office, it sparks a quest to uncover the real purpose of their jobs.
‘Severance’ Season 3 Is In the Works

Apple TV+
Look, it wasn’t shocking to anyone when Apple TV+ greenlit a third season of Severance. Season two dropped in 2025 and honestly, it was fantastic – ten episodes of pure brilliance. Critics loved it, with a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and viewers agreed. I saw comments like “everything was perfect” and even talk about it being one of the best shows currently on TV. What’s really interesting is how Severance brought back that old-fashioned feeling of needing to discuss the latest episode with everyone at work – something that seemed to die out after the disappointing finale of Game of Thrones.
Great news for fans! Season 3 is officially happening and we now have an idea of when it will arrive. Production is scheduled to start in April 2026, meaning we can likely expect the new season sometime in 2027. While the complete cast hasn’t been announced, Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and the rest of the team who made it through the last season are anticipated to return.
