Looking back at the TV shows of 2025, Netflix’s The Hunting Wives really stands out. It came out of nowhere – we hadn’t heard much about it beforehand – but positive reviews convinced us to watch, and it quickly became a popular, scandalous crime drama on the platform. Now, John Stamos is joining the cast for Season 2, and he recently shared a funny reaction his wife had when he got the part.
News came out earlier this week that John Stamos is joining the cast of The Hunting Wives, alongside Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman, Dermot Mulroney, and others. He recently spoke about the news for the first time on Today.
I mentioned to my wife what I was up to, and she jokingly asked if it involved nudity. I told her probably not, but it’s the kind of show where that’s always a possibility.
Hey, in her defense, there’s a lot of nudity on The Hunting Wives!
John Stamos is married to Caitlyn McHugh. They met while working on an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and both got married and had a son in 2018.
This series, set in Texas, follows Sophie as she relocates to the made-up town of Maple Brook. There, she encounters Margo and her group of friends, who lead a secret life filled with pleasure-seeking behavior – and the show includes many explicit sexual scenes. When questioned about whether John Stamos would appear nude, he didn’t give a definitive answer.
Well, we’ll see.
John Stamos will be joining the cast for the next season, playing a character named Chase Brylan, though details about his role are currently unknown. He’ll be joined by new cast members Cam Gigandet (known for Twilight), Dale Dickey (Fallout), Kim Matula (The Bold and the Beautiful), and Alex Fitzalan (The Wilds).
The series The Hunting Wives quickly became a hit when it launched in mid-2025. It topped the charts as the most-streamed show in the U.S., racking up 2 billion minutes of viewing time on Netflix within just two weeks. Because of this popularity, it was no surprise when Netflix announced a second season in September.
Originally, the show was created for Starz, inspired by May Cobb’s novel, but Netflix ultimately picked it up. Throughout the year, The Hunting Wives generated a lot of buzz, even making its way into a Saturday Night Live sketch featuring Amy Poehler and Aubrey Plaza.
Everyone’s eager to see what role John Stamos will play in the new season of The Hunting Wives, especially with all the murder investigations happening in Maple Brook. But now, I’m also interested in how his real-life wife feels about his involvement in such a dark show.
