‘The Night Agent’ Season 4 Update Suggests Renewal Could Happen

The third season of Netflix’s thriller series returns on February 19th. While Netflix hasn’t officially renewed the show for a fourth season yet, the showrunner, Shawn Ryan, suggests a renewal is likely.

Ryan recently told Deadline that they’re actively discussing continuing the political action-thriller, and have already spent considerable time planning its future.

We haven’t officially been renewed for Season 4 yet, but we started working on ideas and scripts back in 2025. We’ve been developing the storyline for a while now, and we’re on track to meet the filming deadline required for tax credits, so we still have time.

Netflix’s hit series, The Night Agent, which premiered in March 2023 and is based on Matthew Quirk’s book, quickly became incredibly popular. The first season follows Peter Sutherland, an FBI agent played by Gabriel Basso, who gets embroiled in a dangerous conspiracy after answering a mysterious late-night phone call. Viewers tuned in for over 800 million hours in the show’s first month, making it one of Netflix’s biggest successes.

The second season of the show delved deeper into political conspiracies, maintaining its exciting, action-packed story and continuing to attract a large audience. Its consistent presence in Netflix’s Top 10 confirmed its popularity and justified the quick renewal for Season 3. While another season seems probable, Netflix will likely base its final decision on how well the show performs in the near future.
