Warner Bros. has finally released the first trailer and images for its reimagining of The Mummy, two years after the project was first announced.
The tagline for Lee Cronin’s The Mummy warns, “Some things are meant to stay buried.” A brief, one-minute teaser shows the arrival and opening of the mummy’s coffin, followed by a team beginning to investigate. The teaser quickly establishes that the movie will be a thrilling adventure.
The trailer begins with quick flashes of images, then reveals a photo of a father and daughter. It poses the question, “What happened to Katie?” This same question is prominently featured on the new movie poster.
I remember when The Mummy first came out – the story really grabbed me. It’s about a journalist’s daughter who vanishes in the desert, and eight years later, she suddenly reappears. You’d think her family would be thrilled, but things quickly go wrong, and their happy reunion turns into something terrifying.
Lee Cronin, who directed Evil Dead Rise, is writing and directing the new Mummy film. The movie features Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, and Veronica Falcón in its cast.
James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville produced the horror film. Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Macdara Kelleher, and Lee Cronin served as executive producers.
