The next Mummy movie will bring back the original team! Universal has confirmed John Hannah will star alongside Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, marking the first time this heroic trio has appeared together since The Mummy Returns. Weisz didn’t participate in the third film, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, but she’ll be back for the fourth installment.
Hannah will once again play Jonathan Carnahan, a treasure-hunting thief and the brother of Evelyn O’Connell. Despite his habit of stealing ancient artifacts, Jonathan cares about his family and usually ends up helping the good guys by the time each adventure is over.
Hannah previously starred as Carnahan in all three The Mummy movies, including Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, where Maria Bello took over the role of Evelyn from Rachel Weisz. However, that film’s events don’t seem to matter anymore, as the directors of the new Mummy 4 movie have suggested they won’t be following the storyline of Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
