The classic horror series The Mummy is getting a fresh start! After a previous attempt with Tom Cruise didn’t launch a shared universe, plans for a new Mummy movie stalled. But now, in mid-2024, Lee Cronin – the director of Evil Dead Rise – has been brought on board to write and direct a completely new, standalone Mummy film for Blumhouse and New Line Cinema.
The movie, scheduled to come out on April 17th, started gaining attention in early 2025 with the announcement that Jack Reynor (from The Perfect Couple) and Laia Costa (from The Wheel of Time) would be the lead actors. Soon after, Verónica Falcón, May Calamawy (Moon Knight), May Elghety, and Natalie Grace joined the cast. Filming took place between March and June.
Warner Bros. has just released the first trailer for The Mummy. The new film, directed by Lee Cronin (known for Evil Dead Rise), offers a fresh take on the classic horror series. It follows a family who unexpectedly encounter and battle a resurrected mummy with roots in ancient Egypt. You can watch the trailer below.
