The Mandalorian and Grogu’s Logo & Poster Divides Star Wars Fans

As a huge Star Wars fan, it’s exciting to finally see Lucasfilm starting to promote a new movie after six years! But honestly, the first look at ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ – the logo and poster specifically – seems to have really split the fanbase, and that’s a little disappointing.

Why is The Mandalorian and Grogu poster dividing the Star Wars fandom?

Lucasfilm just released the first trailer for the next *Mandalorian* and Grogu adventure. Along with the trailer, they revealed the movie’s logo and poster, which have a retro, pulp-inspired style. This new look has sparked a lot of debate among *Star Wars* fans online – some love it, while others think it looks more like something created by fans than official artwork. People have been sharing their reactions on platforms like X and Reddit.

Some fans actually don’t mind the new, old-fashioned style of the Star Wars films, but they strongly dislike the movie poster. Others think the poster’s design is a deliberate nod to classic pulp heroes like Flash Gordon, who heavily influenced George Lucas when he first created Star Wars.

Check out the first poster for The Mandalorian and Grogu, as well as some online reactions, below:

With the Empire defeated, its remaining leaders are hiding across the galaxy. The newly formed New Republic is trying to safeguard the freedom won by the Rebellion, and they’ve asked for help from Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), a famous Mandalorian bounty hunter, and his young companion, Grogu. As a huge fan of The Mandalorian, I’m really excited that Jon Favreau is back directing the next installment on Disney+. He co-wrote the script with Dave Filoni, which is fantastic news. Of course, Pedro Pascal is leading the cast, but they’ve added some amazing new faces like Sigourney Weaver, playing a character named Ward, and Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt. Plus, we’ll be seeing a character from Rebels, Zeb Orrelios, though it’s still up in the air if Steve Blum will be back to voice him. It’s shaping up to be a really great continuation of the story with Din and Grogu!

The Mandalorian and Grogu is scheduled to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.
