The Legend of Zelda Movie Cast Finds Live-Action Link & Zelda

Sony and Nintendo have chosen the actors to play Link and Zelda in their forthcoming live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda.

Who is in The Legend of Zelda movie cast?

On a recent post by Nintendo on Wednesday, the game creator Shigeru Miyamoto announced that Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will portray Link, while Bo Bragason will take on the role of Zelda in The Legend of Zelda series.

“This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san,” reads the official Nintendo account. “I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.”

Ainsworth is a renowned English actor, famously known for lending his voice to Pinocchio in Robert Zemeckis’ live-action reimagining of Pinocchio. He has also made significant appearances as Miles in Netflix’s horror series The Haunting of Bly Manor, William in Disney’s Flora & Ulysses, and Mark Critch in the Son of a Critch series.

In the BBC One series Three Girls, the character portrayed by Bragason was Rachel Winshaw. Beyond this role, he has also made appearances as Amy Knightly in The Jetty, Roxy Jackson in Renegade Nell, and Clara Radley in The Radleys – all of these on screen.

Wes Ball has been assigned to lead the direction of The Legend of Zelda. Ball is predominantly recognized for his work as director on all three Maze Runner films. More recently, he oversaw the production of the latest Planet of the Apes movie titled “Kingdom of the Apes.

Together, Nintendo and Sony Pictures are going to jointly fund and release the movie based on The Legend of Zelda. Shigeru Miyamoto, Joe Hartwick Jr., and Avi Arad will serve as producers for this project.

In 1986, The Legend of Zelda was first introduced as a video game by Nintendo. This epic tale revolves around the character Link, an elf-like hero, and Princess Zelda, as they team up to shield the enchanted realm of Hyrule from the malevolent warlord Ganon’s destructive forces.

Nintendo aims to broaden its film influence after the global success of 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which raked in over $1.3 billion at box offices worldwide.

The Legend of Zelda is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 7, 2027.
