The Hunting Wives Season 2 Filming Begins & 3 Characters Return

Production is underway for season 2 of The Hunting Wives. Netflix has confirmed that three characters will return for the new season. The show was renewed in September 2025, only two months after its successful debut on the streaming platform. The Hunting Wives quickly gained a large audience and has been praised by critics for its compelling story and strong acting.

Netflix has confirmed that filming for season 2 of The Hunting Wives is now underway. Along with the previously announced cast, Karen Rodriguez and Hunter Emery will reprise their roles as Deputy Wanda Salazar and Deputy Walter Flynn, respectively, as series regulars. Branton Box will also return as Sheriff Johnny, but in a guest role.

Filming for season two is officially underway, and Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman are back as Sophie and Margo! The returning cast also includes Jaime Ray Newman, Dermot Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit, and George Ferrier. Here’s a sneak peek behind the scenes to celebrate the start of filming.

I’m so excited for season 2 of The Hunting Wives! From what I’ve heard, Sophie and Margo are really not speaking to each other, but something’s going to force them to reconnect. Apparently, old mysteries and new enemies are coming out of the woodwork, and it sounds like they’ll have to decide if they’re going to be the ones doing the investigating, or if they’re going to become the targets themselves. It’s going to be a wild ride!

The second season will have eight episodes, the same number as the first. Rebecca Cutter is back as showrunner, and Erwin Stoff of 3 Arts Entertainment and May Cobb, who wrote the book The Hunting Wives, will both return as executive producers.

The first season of The Hunting Wives revealed that Margo killed Abby to hide the fact that she had been abusing Brad. This shocking twist complicates her already difficult relationship with Sophie, and Margo will likely continue to manipulate Sophie as the story unfolds. It’s currently unknown if Margo will ever be held accountable for her actions.

Netflix has confirmed they’ll announce more cast members later on. The decision to make Salazar and Flynn regular characters in season two suggests the police will play a bigger role in the new episodes. This increased police involvement could be connected to how Sophie and Margo reunite, possibly involving some illegal activities Margo was involved in. It’s still unclear exactly what will happen, though.

The fast turnaround between seasons of The Hunting Wives suggests Netflix is really focusing on the show. Considering season one was a hit, racking up over 20 million views in the US in just five weeks, this makes perfect sense. It’s also a promising sign that the next season will be just as good.
