The Handmaid’s Tale Spinoff The Testaments Unveils First Look at June’s Daughter Hannah

This series has been incredibly popular with both critics and viewers, largely due to its powerful message. While the original show concluded with its sixth season this year, the story isn’t over. Hulu is continuing the narrative with a new spinoff called The Testaments.

The new series is adapted from Margaret Wood’s book series, The Testaments, which continues the story of The Handmaid’s Tale. It takes place fifteen years after the original show’s ending and focuses on the lives of three women affected by the events that unfolded. Hulu has released a sneak peek, revealing Chase Infiniti (known for One Battle After Another) will play June’s daughter, Hannah, in the sequel.

Hulu announced that the new series, The Testaments, will premiere in April 2026, one year after the final season of The Handmaid’s Tale aired. The announcement, shared on social media, described the show as a rebellious coming-of-age story and noted it will be available on both Hulu and Disney+.

The newly released photos reveal Infiniti playing Agnes, the daughter of June, who was renamed by her adoptive family. Ann Dowd returns as Aunt Lydia, and one photo shows her observing a statue of herself while wearing her familiar green uniform.

Additional photos feature young women attending “Wives School,” including Shechinah Mpumlwana, Rowan Blanchard, Birva Pandya, Mattea Conforti, and Isolde Arides.

The show follows the stories of young women growing up in the oppressive society of Gilead, a world they’ve always known and have no memory of life before. As they face a future of forced marriage and subservience, they must find allies – both familiar and new – to fight for their freedom and the lives they deserve.

The series’ longtime showrunner and creator continues in those roles, also serving as an executive producer. Elisabeth Moss, the original star who played June Osborn, is an executive producer, along with Warren Littlefield, Steve Stark, Shana Stein, Maya Goldsmith, John Weber, Sheila Hockin, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, and Mike Barker, who will direct the first three episodes.

The Handmaid’s Tale Was a Massive Success

The critically acclaimed dystopian series premiered in 2017 and ran for six seasons. It centers on June Osborn’s fight for survival in Gilead, a totalitarian state established after a sharp decline in fertility rates. Due to sexually transmitted diseases and environmental pollution, Gilead created a strict social hierarchy that stripped women of their rights.

The society depicted in The Handmaid’s Tale is built on a radical and distorted understanding of a Biblical story, forcing women to bear children for affluent families. The novel follows June’s struggle to escape this fate and dismantle the oppressive regime of Gilead, all while desperately trying to find her daughter, Hannah, who was given to a privileged family. The Testaments continues the story, revealing that even after fighting against this totalitarian world, June still hasn’t been able to reunite with Hannah.

The Testaments premieres on Hulu in April 2026.
