The Furious, The Action Movie Event of the Year, Just Got Some Bad News

A highly anticipated action movie has hit a snag, which will likely disappoint many eager fans. It’s expected to be a major event for action movie lovers, but its release has been delayed.

The movie was originally planned for release on May 29th, but it’s been delayed. Fortunately, the studio announced through Dread Central that the new release date is only two weeks later – June 12th.

Considering how often release dates get pushed back, this isn’t terrible news for a game that many believe will be an instant classic.

The Furious Delayed, But Hailed as a Looming Masterpiece

That isn’t hyperbole, by the way, at least not by critical standards.

Initially, the product had 14 reviews. Now, it has 20 reviews, and it still maintains a perfect 100% rating.

The premiere of The Furious at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival on September 6th was a huge surprise. The Hong Kong action film instantly energized the genre with its thrilling intensity, boasting a talented cast and masterful direction.

The Furious Promises New Era of Martial Arts Action

Starring Xie Miao (Wang Wei) and featuring Brian Le, Jeeja Yanin, and Mo Tse, The Furious was written by Mak Tin Shu and directed by Kenji Tanigaki. Tanigaki is a renowned action and stunt coordinator known for his work on films such as Blade II.

By all accounts, few will be ready for the high-octane ride that The Furious delivers.

The film follows Wang Wei, whose daughter is kidnapped by a dangerous crime ring. After the police prove unhelpful and corrupt, Wei is forced to take the law into his own hands, launching a desperate and brutal quest to save her.

The story follows his journey as he reluctantly teams up with Navin, a journalist desperately searching for his wife. Together, they enter a dangerous criminal world and launch a fierce, revenge-driven fight against those who took her, relying on intense martial arts skills.

Bill Kong, a producer, is also working on The Furious and has stated his desire to show audiences that martial arts action films are still popular and capable of even greater success.

On June 12, he will likely be proven right.
