Before it even came out, *The Flash* faced problems due to legal and personal issues surrounding star Ezra Miller. The film was also one of the last projects from the DC Extended Universe before James Gunn relaunched it as the DC Universe in 2024.

In a recent appearance on the Bingeworthy podcast, director Andy Muschietti discussed the underwhelming box office results and negative feedback surrounding *The Flash*. Despite this, he expressed continued pride in the film and the work of his team.

He explained they accepted the outcome and understood that sometimes projects, even those you work hard on, just don’t catch on. He still felt proud of the film, even though not many people saw it. He added that it’s common these days for people to criticize things without actually experiencing them, preferring to join the crowd and express opinions based on unrelated frustrations.

Muschietti also briefly addressed the controversies surrounding Ezra Miller, admitting they did impact how the public viewed the film. He stated, “We definitely had a publicity issue with Ezra, and I’m not denying that. But we truly love the movie and highly recommend it.”

Muschietti shared his appreciation for Warner Bros.’s faith in the film, even with the negative press it faced beforehand.

He explained that despite the publicity challenges they faced, the studio remained fully supportive, even when they could have pulled back. Everyone involved was completely committed to the project, pouring their heart and soul into it until the very end. He recently rewatched the film and still loved it.

Andy Muschietti, known for directing ‘IT’, directed ‘The Flash’. The screenplay was written by Christina Hodson, who also wrote ‘Birds of Prey’. The movie features Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and Ron Livingston as Henry Allen. Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck both return as their versions of Batman. Currently, the film has a respectable 81% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
