The Tron series has faced challenges for a long time, but things are looking particularly difficult now. Tron: Ares didn’t perform well during its opening weekend and is now expected to have overall disappointing results, potentially costing the studio a substantial amount of money.
According to Deadline, Disney’s new film Tron: Ares is projected to lose the studio around $132 million, despite a reported production cost of $220 million. One talent representative told Deadline that spending $250 million on a Jared Leto film for a previously unsuccessful franchise is a risky move.
More to come.
