Almost 20 years after The Devil Wears Prada, there’s now a Devil Wears Prada 2.
The new movie brings back most of the original cast, featuring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. David Frankel, who directed the first film, and writer Aline Brosh McKenna have also returned.
Okay, so Lauren Weisberger, the woman behind The Devil Wears Prada, actually wrote a sequel back in 2013 called Revenge Wears Prada. I haven’t gotten around to reading it myself, so I can’t give you any details on the plot or how well it stacks up to the original. But here’s something interesting: she also penned a third book, When Life Gives You Lululemons. If this Revenge Wears Prada does well, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see even more movies based on her books down the line – it definitely feels like a franchise with legs!
The first teaser for the film below:
A movie set in 2025 where magazines still have staff? That’s a real stretch of the imagination!
The new movie also has a poster that’s designed to look like the iconic poster from the original Devil Wears Prada.

Here is the official synopsis for The Devil Wears Prada 2:
Nearly two decades after starring in the beloved film The Devil Wears Prada, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are back as Miranda, Andy, Emily, and Nigel. They’re returning to the world of Runway Magazine in a highly anticipated sequel. The film brings back the original cast, director David Frankel, and writer Aline Brosh McKenna, and introduces a fresh group of actors including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak, and Conrad Ricamora. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman will also be reprising their roles as Lily and Irv.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled to open in theaters on May 1.
The Worst Movies of 2025 So Far

8. Snow White
Disney cleverly disguised the fact that Snow White was a musical, so I was completely surprised when the characters suddenly started singing during the movie with my daughter. Ironically, the music was actually one of the best parts of this live-action remake, and I even liked Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. However, the CGI versions of the Seven Dwarfs were incredibly strange – Dopey, in particular, looked like a bizarre combination of Alfred E. Neuman and a stereotypical modern man. These awkward character designs, along with attempts to make Snow White a more proactive heroine (even though she still falls asleep for a long time in the third act, as the story requires), ultimately held back what was otherwise a visually and aurally appealing film.

7. The Alto Knights
I’m still puzzled by Robert De Niro playing both main characters in The Alto Knights. It’s common to see an actor play twins, clones, or a father and son who look alike. But here, De Niro played two unrelated men, which felt like a strange and unnecessary choice. It didn’t add anything to the film except maybe a gimmick to attract attention – Warner Bros. could advertise it as Robert De Niro acting opposite himself. Beyond that, this gangster movie, written by Nicholas Pileggi (who also worked on Goodfellas) and directed by Barry Levinson (Bugsy), didn’t offer much that hadn’t been seen before.

6. Opus
A24’s typically strong horror output stumbled with this film about a young magazine journalist (Ayo Edebiri from The Bear) who receives an exclusive invitation to the comeback album launch of a reclusive 90s pop star (John Malkovich, giving a dedicated but somewhat awkward performance). He lives on a sprawling estate surrounded by people who excessively flatter him.
The film attempts to explore the dangers of cult-like devotion, a theme that’s been tackled many times before in movies like Midsommar, Hereditary, The Master, and The Menu. Opus doesn’t offer any fresh perspective, even in its central dinner scene where the pop star’s followers share a single roll of film, one piece at a time. In fact, watching Opus after those other films feels like picking through leftovers – there’s not much new to discover.

5. Love Hurts
So far this year, the biggest letdown has been Love Hurts, which unfortunately stalled Ke Huy Quan’s promising return to acting. Quan himself isn’t the issue – he fully commits to playing a retired hitman pulled back into the life to protect the woman he loves (Ariana DeBose, whose career after winning an Oscar hasn’t been as successful as Quan’s). While Quan is believable as an action hero, the movie as a whole is a failure, and feels very rushed (it’s only about 80 minutes long, including credits). The script doesn’t give us enough reason to believe Quan and DeBose’s characters would fall for each other, considering their very different personalities, goals, and the significant age gap (DeBose is almost 20 years younger than Quan).

4. Fountain of Youth
Despite boasting a fantastic cast – including stars like John Krasinski and Natalie Portman, and director Guy Ritchie – Fountain of Youth feels surprisingly empty. It’s less a compelling movie and more like an overly polished, but ultimately dull, screensaver. The film follows estranged siblings (Krasinski and Portman) on a quest for the legendary Fountain of Youth, but the result is a predictable blend of adventure tropes reminiscent of Indiana Jones and Uncharted, feeling strangely like a drawn-out commercial. It seems designed for viewers who are simply looking for something to watch to get their money’s worth from an existing subscription, rather than a film that truly captivates.

3. Hurry Up Tomorrow
Most people imagine being a famous musician is full of excitement and luxury. But this film suggests that might not be the case. The Weeknd plays a deeply unhappy version of himself, and the movie portrays his life as a cycle of infrequent concerts, dull parties with his manager (played by Barry Keoghan in a limited role), and moments of him sadly staring at his reflection. That, along with a story about an obsessed fan (Jenna Ortega) who kidnaps him, makes up the entire, drawn-out plot. If The Weeknd finds being a musician challenging, he might want to try reviewing movies instead.

2. The Electric State
There was a lot of talk about the $320 million Netflix reportedly spent on this science fiction film directed by the Russo brothers – and it probably was too much money. Even if it had cost half that amount, it wouldn’t have been worth it. The Electric State simply doesn’t look good; the characters and visuals are bland and uninspired. The story follows a young woman (Millie Bobby Brown) traveling across a desolate, robot-filled landscape to find her brother, aided by Chris Pratt, who seems to be playing a familiar action hero role with an odd haircut. The film’s core story, based on a book I haven’t read, is confusing, but even that could be overlooked if the movie was at least visually appealing. Unfortunately, it isn’t.

1. Star Trek: Section 31
While I’ve seen all of the Star Trek movies, I haven’t watched every single episode of the TV shows. But Star Trek: Section 31 is, in my opinion, the worst installment so far. It just looks and feels cheap, with poor dialogue and confusing action. What’s most disappointing is that it seems to think cool spaceships and gadgets are what make Star Trek special. The best Star Trek always focused on hope and exploring big ideas. Why watch a Star Trek that’s as shallow as any other sci-fi movie?
Star Trek used to be a groundbreaking franchise, inspiring other shows with its unique characters, stories, and visuals. But Section 31 – which feels like a low-budget copy of Guardians of the Galaxy – proves those days are over.
