He recently shared at a Warner Bros. event that the latest movie’s performance proves people are still really into these spooky stories and the world they’ve built. Sounds like we can expect more scares in the future!
Peter Safran believes the recent film, Last Rites, demonstrates there are still many stories to tell within the Conjuring universe. He explained that Last Rites concludes the storyline focused on Ed and Lorraine Warren, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in the main films, but there’s plenty of untapped potential for future installments. Safran explained that the recent film marked the conclusion of one chapter in the story of Patrick, Vera, and ‘The Conjuring.’ He hinted at many unexplored aspects of the narrative and expressed enthusiasm for future possibilities in both movies and television. James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, noted that audiences really enjoyed the new characters introduced in Last Rites, especially Judy Warren and Tony Spera. He said the positive feedback suggests they will likely explore those characters further in future projects.
Peter Safran didn’t announce any new Conjuring spin-offs or when they might happen. But he did say the team is still working on projects within the franchise.
