The Boys Creator Takes Possible Jibe at Stranger Things’ No-Casualty Finale

As viewers anticipate the fifth and final season of The Boys, creator Eric Kripke has hinted at several significant character deaths. He seemed to criticize other shows, like Stranger Things, for protecting their main characters, assuring fans that The Boys will take bigger risks and won’t be afraid to kill off important figures.

Eric Kripke urges The Boys fans not to ‘get too attached’ to Season 5 characters

In a recent interview with SFX Magazine, creator Eric Kripke confirmed that the next season of The Boys will continue to be very violent and will feature significant character deaths.

We deliberately created intensely emotional and impactful moments for the characters, knowing some confrontations would be devastating and have lasting consequences. It’s a tough story, and not everyone will make it through unscathed – that felt true to life, and unavoidable, for the narrative.

The showrunner for The Boys’ fifth season criticized some science fiction shows – potentially including Stranger Things – for avoiding major character deaths in their finales. He expressed frustration when big shows wrap up with everyone still alive, saying, “Things need to have consequences! You can’t just avoid those costs.” He hinted that viewers shouldn’t get too invested in any one character on The Boys, implying significant characters could die.

The popular series Stranger Things ended in December 2025 after five seasons, concluding with a two-hour finale. Viewers anticipated significant character deaths during the final battle with Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). Surprisingly, all the main characters survived, and it seems Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) may have pretended to die to avoid dangerous government agents.

The highly anticipated Boys Season 5 is currently on track to hit Prime Video on April 8, 2026.
