The “Boldest and Most Unabashed” Series on TV is a Helluva Streaming Hit With a Perfect Season 2 RT Score

Look, let’s be honest, YouTube can be a bit of a wild west. A lot of people see it as just a place where kids stumble across questionable content – think swearing, extreme makeup tutorials, or just chaotic, loud videos. But amidst all that, genuinely talented creators do exist. And some, like Vivienne Medrano, are really breaking through. I’m thrilled to see her work, specifically her series, gaining even more traction with its second season – it’s a well-deserved wave of success.

The animated comedy series surprised a lot of people when it premiered on Prime Video in 2024. Creator Medrano first started funding the project through her Patreon account ten years earlier. Originally, the show launched with a pilot episode on YouTube in 2019. Its huge popularity then led to a deal with Prime Video and A24, who released a full season on streaming in January of last year.

Now, the second season has started delivering new episodes on Prime Video, and has followed up Season 1’s 78% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes with a 100% score for the first two episodes of Season 2. Similarly, the already high 86% audience score of the first season has been increased to 87%. Can the series continue this? Hazbin Hotel centers around Charlie, the princess of Hell, who tries to change demons into better beings to solve the problem of overpopulation. After demons are culled annually by angels, she opens a hotel hoping they’ll reform and earn a place in Heaven. Despite ridicule from most of Hell, Charlie is supported by her loyal partner, Vaggie, and their first guest, Angel Dust, a former adult-film star. When a powerful being called the Radio Demon offers his help, Charlie’s ambitious dream might actually have a chance.

The voice cast of Hazbin Hotel is remarkably talented, featuring Alex Brightman, Keith David, Kimiko Glenn, Erika Henningsen, Blake Roman, Jeremy Jordan, and Christian Borle.
