A beloved spaghetti Western, considered by many to be one of the greatest of all time, will be available to stream for free next month. While ‘best’ is always a matter of opinion, this film consistently appears in the top three for fans, and for good reason. It’s a fantastic example of the genre and boasts what many consider to be one of the most iconic showdowns ever filmed.
Sergio Leone’s classic Western, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, first came out in 1966 internationally and in the US in 1967. It’s the final film in his celebrated “Dollars Trilogy,” which also includes A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More. Good news for Western fans: all three movies will be available to stream for free on Tubi starting January 1, 2026 – a great way to start the new year!
Featuring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, and Eli Wallach, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly was a huge commercial success when it was released, making $38.9 million on a small $1.2 million budget. While often considered part of a series of films, each movie tells its own complete story and can be enjoyed independently. They’re all connected by Eastwood’s character, known as the “Man with No Name,” but there isn’t a continuous plotline. Here’s what the movie is about:
During the Civil War in the American Southwest, a quiet stranger named Joe (played by Eastwood) and a Mexican outlaw, Tuco (played by Wallach), reluctantly team up. Joe repeatedly captures Tuco to collect rewards, then saves him from hanging. After a failed rescue attempt leaves Joe facing danger, Tuco tries to kill him. Despite their conflict, the two men are forced to join forces again to outsmart a cruel criminal, evade the Union army, and locate $20,000 buried in the desert by a soldier.

With a remarkable 97% score from both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is universally loved. Described as everything from magnificent and epic to iconic and quintessential, this classic spaghetti Western remains as powerful and enjoyable today as it was six decades ago.
Sergio Leone’s The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is instantly recognizable thanks to his unique filmmaking style and Ennio Morricone’s unforgettable music. The film is famous for its incredible climax – the tense standoff in Sad Hill Cemetery between Blondie, Tuco, and Angel Eyes. It’s a brilliantly directed, edited, and scored scene that creates a huge amount of suspense and provides a shocking ending that feels earned after the movie’s lengthy runtime.
Let me tell you, if you haven’t experienced this incredible spaghetti Western – and its two equally fantastic sequels – you’re in for a treat. Mark your calendars, because all three are hitting Tubi on January 1st, 2026, and trust me, you won’t want to miss them.
