The movie Punisher: War Zone, featuring the late Ray Stevenson, is now available to stream on Tubi. Fans can watch the film, often considered a hidden gem among Marvel Comics adaptations, completely free of charge.

Okay, so this movie, directed by Lexi Alexander and written by Nick Santora, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway, really kicks off with our main guy, Frank, already five years into a one-man war against the mob. He’s been hunting them down ever since something terrible happened to his family. The film basically starts with Frank seriously messing up Dominic West’s character, Billy Russoti, and that’s what sets Russoti on the path to becoming the villain we know as Jigsaw. It’s a pretty intense opening!

In addition to Ray Stevenson, Punisher: War Zone features Doug Hutchison as Jigsaw’s brother, James Russoti (also known as Loony Bin Jim), and Colin Salmon as FBI Agent Paul Budiansky. Dash Mihok plays Detective Martin Soap, part of the NYPD’s Punisher Task Force, and Wayne Knight appears as Linus Lieberman, or Microchip. The film’s main cast is completed by Dash Mihok, Julie Benz, Romano Orzari, Mark Camacho, T.J. Storm, David Vadim, and Keram Malicki-Sánchez.

When Punisher: War Zone came out in 2008, it didn’t do well in theaters. Despite costing $35 million to make, the film only earned $10.2 million, making it the lowest-grossing Marvel movie ever.

Currently, the movie Punisher: War Zone has a low 29% score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 110 reviews from critics. Viewers seem to like it slightly more, giving it a 42% approval rating based on over 100,000 ratings from regular moviegoers.

What’s Next for the Punisher on the Silver Screen?

Okay, so Punisher: War Zone wasn’t a huge hit, but I really don’t think we’ve seen the last of Frank Castle in movies. Everyone’s super excited about Jon Bernthal coming back as the Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day which is coming out July 31, 2026! And get this – that movie isn’t just bringing him back, it’s actually going to lead right into a new Punisher special that’s planned for streaming later in 2026. I’m so hyped for this!

We’re also releasing a Punisher special, and it’s going to be incredibly intense – probably the most action-packed Punisher you’ve ever seen. It was really important to me, the director Destin Daniel Cretton, and Tom Holland that The Punisher felt like a natural fit within the Spider-Man universe, and I think we successfully made that happen.
