Sebastian Stan’s Two-Face is coming to Gotham City soon in The Batman – Part II.
Director Matt Reeves has confirmed that Stan and Scarlett Johansson will be joining the cast of The Batman – Part II, news that followed several rumors. Although DC hasn’t revealed their characters yet, reports suggest Stan will play Harvey Dent (Two-Face) and Johansson will play his wife, Gilda. Now, fans are creating artwork imagining Two-Face in the film, building excitement for his potential appearance.
On Instagram, @odimi_ teased Two-Face’s The Batman – Part II role with a fan poster.
As a huge DC fan, I was so excited when I saw Robert Pattinson’s Batman standing in a snowy Gotham in the early art! Director Reeves actually confirmed the snow was in the first Batmobile tests, which got everyone speculating about Mr. Freeze potentially showing up. But right now, all eyes are on Stan’s Harvey Dent. A fan poster circulating online, showing a scratched-up coin with just the ‘heads’ side visible, is brilliantly building the hype for his debut in The Batman – Part II. It’s a perfect tease!
Sebastian Stan’s Reported Two-Face Role Is Perfect For The Batman Universe
The Batman felt more like a realistic crime drama than a typical superhero film. Because of this, Two-Face would be a great villain for this version of Gotham. Harvey Dent could help the movies explore what Batman represents – hope and goodness, not just revenge. Unlike most villains, he doesn’t need a costume to try and improve the city, which is especially important after the chaos caused by the Riddler and the Penguin’s rise to power as shown in his recent TV series. Gotham really needs a serious cleanup.
This could allow Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne to fully embrace the playboy image from the comics, moving away from the brooding and detached portrayal in The Batman. Harvey Dent’s transformation into Two-Face would be a pivotal event, dramatically impacting Batman and changing the stakes. A figure representing hope in Gotham’s dark world would become its darkest reflection, ultimately pushing Bruce Wayne and Batman to become the true symbol of hope the city desperately needs.
Harvey Dent Needs To Be The Star Of The Batman 2 (Not Two-Face)
Fan posters for The Batman – Part II hint at the classic villain Two-Face, and many online artists are depicting his transformation. However, it might be better for the story if Harvey Dent remained himself for most of the film, rather than becoming Two-Face. Establishing Harvey as a strong force for good first would make Bruce Wayne’s own journey more impactful, and his eventual fall would carry more weight.
With plans for a third Batman movie starring Robert Pattinson, there’s a good chance Stanley could reprise his role as Two-Face. The character of Harvey Dent hasn’t been fully developed on screen before his transformation, and the sequel offers a chance to explore that, potentially with Johansson’s character mirroring the role of Gilda in stories like Batman: The Long Halloween. The next film really needs Harvey Dent’s presence.
