Matt Reeves has shared some new information about the next Batman movie. He explained that the villain will have a personal connection to Bruce Wayne’s history, the story will delve deeper into Bruce Wayne as a person, and he talked about whether or not Robin might appear.

Matt Reeves has revealed that the next Batman movie will feature a villain with a personal connection to Bruce Wayne’s past. He shared that finding the right villain meant choosing someone who would explore Bruce’s history and life, something that hasn’t been done in a Batman film before. Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin researched comic books and looked at movies beyond the Batman universe for inspiration while developing the story.

Reeves explained that the next Batman movie will delve deeper into Bruce Wayne’s personal journey, moving beyond just focusing on his role as Batman. He wants to ensure Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of Wayne remains central to the story. While Cristin Milioti’s character, Sofia Falcone, won’t be in the sequel, Reeves spoke highly of her performance in ‘The Penguin’ series.

Reeves clarified that the movie is still a standalone DC story, existing outside of James Gunn’s new DC Universe. When asked about potentially working with Gunn on a DCU project, Reeves said they haven’t discussed it, and that he’s focused on finishing the story he started and reaching the ending he originally envisioned.

I’m so excited to hear that they’re planning to start making the second Batman movie in spring 2026! Apparently, Robert Pattinson has already had a chance to read the script, which is awesome. I can’t wait to see what they come up with.
