Movies often feature unforgettable characters, and some of the most compelling come from long-running franchises. Take the Jedi and Sith from Star Wars – they combine the qualities of knights, monks, and wizards. Their abilities are central to the story, influencing key events across the entire galaxy.
While creatures like Rancors and skilled bounty hunters such as Din Djarin and Boba Fett provide a challenge to the Force users in Star Wars, and have even defeated Jedi and Sith, the most powerful characters – like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader – are strong enough to easily defeat any enemy in the galaxy.
Grand Admiral Thrawn Didn’t Need the Force to Subjugate the Galaxy
Grand Admiral Thrawn originally served the Chiss Ascendancy, but was forced into exile, leading him to join the Imperial Navy. His brilliant tactics and uncompromising approach quickly impressed Emperor Palpatine, making him a key leader within the Empire. Though exiled again just before the start of the Galactic Civil War, Thrawn returned after the Empire fell, aiming to create an even more oppressive rule.
Though he doesn’t use the Force, Grand Admiral Thrawn expertly commands forces and dominates the galaxy. He’s arguably the most brilliant strategist in the Star Wars universe, and his tactical skill poses a significant threat to democracy and a serious challenge for the New Republic.
Shin Hati Is on Her Way to Becoming a Powerful Force Wielder
Shin Hati is a recently introduced character in the Star Wars universe who has quickly proven to be a formidable fighter. As the apprentice of Baylan Skoll, she combines both Light and Dark Side abilities to gain an advantage in battles. Throughout the Ahsoka series on Disney+, Shin faces off against powerful opponents like Sabine Wren and Ahsoka Tano.
Shin Hati is a skilled Force user who often wins her battles against Ahsoka. She consistently defeats Sabine Wren in their fights during the first season, establishing herself as a formidable opponent. Viewers are eager to see the full range of her abilities as the story unfolds.
Ezra Bridger Discovered the World Between Worlds
Ezra Bridger might not be the most well-known Jedi, but he’s definitely one of the most powerful. Born around the time the Empire rose to power, Ezra didn’t receive traditional Jedi training at the Temple. He began learning the ways of the Force much later in life, guided by Kanan Jarrus, a Jedi who survived the Empire’s purge. Through dedication, Ezra became a remarkably strong Jedi during his time.
Ezra Bridger achieved a lot during his time in Star Wars: Rebels, more than many expected. Over four years, he became strong enough to unlock an ancient Sith Holocron, learning its secrets without falling to the dark side. He also uniquely discovered the World Between Worlds, a mystical dimension he used to rescue Ahsoka Tano from Darth Vader. Arguably, his most significant accomplishment was defeating Grand Admiral Thrawn, which was crucial to the Rebel Alliance’s eventual victory.
Kanan Jarrus Kept the Jedi Order Alive After Order 66
Caleb Dume was a Jedi Padawan nearing the end of the Republic era. He trained under Jedi Master Depa Billaba and was one of the few to survive Order 66, escaping the clone troopers’ attack. He then changed his name to Kanan Jarrus and continued to develop his Jedi skills, eventually becoming a mentor to Ezra Bridger.
Kanan Jarrus might not be as famous as some Jedi, but he was incredibly powerful, especially compared to others of his time. He skillfully avoided and battled the Empire for years, and connected with strong Force entities like the Bendu. Remarkably, he was even able to project his thoughts forward in time, offering guidance to Rey Skywalker during her fight with the Emperor, long after he had passed away.
Baylan Skoll Is a Powerful Bruiser
Baylan Skoll is a mysterious figure who appears after the Empire’s defeat with his student, Shin Hati. They clash with Ahsoka Tano and her apprentice, Sabine Wren, leading to a conflict that extends to another galaxy. Throughout these battles, viewers catch glimpses of Baylan Skoll’s considerable power.
Baylan Skoll was once a Jedi, but he left the Order around the time of the Jedi Purge. He’s a powerful and skilled lightsaber fighter, known for his aggressive style that keeps opponents constantly defending. His quest to find the Mortis Gods suggests he might be about to unlock even more power than he already possesses.
Sol Was a Skilled Fighter Who Finally Met His Match
Master Sol is a Jedi Master introduced in the series The Acolyte. He served the Jedi Order during the High Republic era and was once the teacher of Osha Aniseya, a young woman from a group of witches on the planet Brendock. Unfortunately, Sol is ultimately killed by Osha, who discovers he mistakenly killed her mother, believing she posed a threat.
Even though he was ultimately killed by a former student, Sol was a skilled and resilient fighter. He bravely battled the dangerous Sith known as the Stranger, holding his own despite the Stranger recently defeating several other Jedi. They fought twice, and Sol managed to survive both encounters. Ultimately, Sol’s life ended not in combat, but when he willingly accepted punishment for past misdeeds, falling to Osha’s righteous anger.
The Grand Inquisitor Defeated Many Jedi in His Prime
The Grand Inquisitor, a character whose identity remains unknown to most Star Wars fans, used to be a Jedi Temple Guard. However, he switched sides and joined the Empire after the devastating Order 66. As the leader of the Inquisitorious – a group of former Jedi and other Force-sensitive individuals tasked with tracking down Jedi who survived the purge – the Grand Inquisitor works closely with Darth Vader in the years between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
The Grand Inquisitor is a highly skilled swordsman, fighting with a unique double-bladed lightsaber that spins. He consistently demonstrates the ability to fight and defeat several opponents simultaneously, easily turning aside their attacks. He’s also exceptionally strong in the Force, more powerful than the other Inquisitors. However, despite being the leader of the Inquisitorius, his power is dwarfed by his master, Darth Vader.
Asajj Ventress Was a Sith Apprentice With Promise
Asajj Ventress was a skilled assassin who worked for Count Dooku during the Clone Wars. She successfully completed numerous missions for him until Darth Sidious instructed Dooku to eliminate her. Ventress managed to survive the attempt on her life and reinvented herself as a bounty hunter. The last time viewers saw her, she was still working as a bounty hunter after the Clone Wars, but had abandoned the dark side.
Let me tell you about Asajj Ventress. This character is fascinating – she started out as a Jedi trainee, but a Sith Lord twisted her path, and she became incredibly skilled with the dark side of the Force, though she definitely looked out for number one. What really sets her apart, visually and in a fight, are those dual red lightsabers – they have curved hilts, making her a seriously intimidating opponent. She wasn’t the most powerful Sith, not by a long shot, but Ventress was a major player in the Clone Wars, and honestly, she committed some truly awful deeds that definitely stick with you.
Master Indara Was Stronger Than Her Peers
Carrie-Anne Moss joins the Star Wars universe as Master Indara, a formidable Jedi. Indara lived a century before the events of The Phantom Menace and was ultimately killed by the Sith apprentice, Mae-ho Aniseya.
Even though Indara appeared in only a few scenes, she clearly demonstrated incredible Force abilities, surpassing many Jedi like Sol, Torbin, and Kelnaaca. She proved her strength in a powerful duel with Mae, showcasing her skills without needing a lightsaber. Though ultimately killed by a young Sith, it happened only because she prioritized protecting an innocent person and lowered her defenses.
The Stranger is One of the Most Powerful Live-Action Siths
Okay, so this new villain in The Acolyte, called the Stranger, is a really interesting addition to the Star Wars universe. Turns out he’s actually Qimir, an old apprentice of Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh! He fell to the Dark Side and, instead of following the usual Sith rules, decided to build his own little crew, starting with Mae-ho Aniseya and eventually bringing in her twin sister, Osha. But his independent streak didn’t sit well with everyone – apparently, even Darth Plagueis, a pretty powerful Sith Lord, got annoyed with his methods.
In The Acolyte, The Stranger demonstrates incredible Force abilities, defeating nearly a dozen skilled Jedi Masters in just minutes. His helmet, which protects him from lightsabers, highlights his immense power. Sadly, because the show was cancelled, viewers probably won’t get to see the full scope of Qimir’s capabilities.
