As a total movie buff, I’m always on the lookout for something good to watch, and Netflix really delivers – there’s genuinely something for everyone, whether you’re looking for a cozy family night or something a bit more grown-up. So, if you’re wondering what to stream this week for the holidays, here are a few of my recommendations!

The Christmas Chronicles Is a Heartwarming Holiday Tale

If you’re tired of the usual holiday rom-coms on Netflix, The Christmas Chronicles is a great choice for a family movie night. It tells the story of two siblings who try to film Santa Claus and end up causing trouble for his Christmas Eve deliveries. When they accidentally leave Santa stranded in a new city, they have to work with him to save Christmas.

Although the family story in the film isn’t groundbreaking, it’s handled well and keeps you engaged. Kurt Russell is fantastic and truly shines. Plus, the movie is filled with holiday cheer, adding a delightful, lighthearted touch to the otherwise realistic story. There’s even a second movie, and it takes the fantasy elements even further.

Dash & Lily Is a Sweet Christmastime Romance

The Netflix series Dash & Lily is based on the young adult book by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. The story starts when Dash discovers a notebook filled with dares at the iconic Strand Bookstore. He and the notebook’s owner, Lily, start a flirty game of challenges and gradually fall for each other, all communicated through the notebook’s pages. With short, half-hour episodes and just one season, it’s a quick and charming show to enjoy during the holidays.

Critics loved the series Dash & Lily, giving it a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. They especially praised the actors Austin Abrams and Midori Francis, noting how well they played their characters and brought their individual stories – as well as their budding romance – to life. Despite some fans wishing for more episodes, it’s a charming show that could easily become a holiday favorite.

Jay Kelly Gets Meta With Hollywood Stars

If you’re looking for a thoughtful and engaging film, be sure to check out Jay Kelly. This new movie from Noah Baumbach follows an older actor who embarks on a spontaneous European journey with his manager, hoping to reconnect with his daughter. Throughout their travels, both characters look back on their lives and consider the downsides of being famous.
