Terrifier 4 Confirms New Holiday Setting & Release Window

Great news for fans of Terrifier! The fourth movie in the series will be set during a holiday, and we now have a confirmed release timeframe.

Damien Leone, the writer and director, announced on Instagram that the next Terrifier movie, Terrifier 4, will be set around New Year’s Eve. This continues the holiday horror theme from Terrifier 3, which took place at Christmas and featured Art the Clown disguised as Santa Claus. Leone confirmed in a comment that the film is scheduled to be released in 2027, after a fan inquired about the potential release year.

Terrifier 4 Reveals Art the Clown’s Origin Story

We don’t have all the details about the plot of Terrifier 4 yet, but the director has said more will be revealed soon. It’s also been hinted that this will be the last Terrifier movie, though many horror franchises have said that before – like Friday the 13th Part VI: The Final Chapter, which ended up having eight sequels! So, it remains to be seen if this is truly the end.

Leone promised the new movie will be amazing, stating, ‘You’re not going to be disappointed.’ He revealed at last year’s Texas Frightmare convention that the first fifteen minutes will reveal the full backstory of the character Art.

Last year, the director announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the script for Terrifier 4 is being developed and promises a grand, exciting, scary, and emotionally fulfilling ending to the series.

Art the Clown Is a Pop Culture Icon

Damien Leone has written and directed every film in the series. The character Art the Clown first appeared in the 2013 horror anthology All Hallows’ Eve, originally played by Mike Giannelli. David Howard Thornton took on the role of Art with the first Terrifier movie in 2016 and has played him ever since. The original film was a financial success after a limited release in 2018, earning over $421,000 on a budget of less than $55,000.

The horror film Terrifier 2, released in 2022, was a major hit, earning over $18 million on a tiny $250,000 budget. Its success continued with Terrifier 3 in 2024, which grossed over $90 million with a $2 million budget. The Terrifier films have not only launched a franchise but have also turned the villain, Art the Clown, into a popular modern horror icon. He’s become a recognizable figure in pop culture, appearing in shows like Bupkis and even video games such as Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone. There’s also a dedicated Terrifier video game, Terrifier: The ARTcade Game.

Terrifier 4 will be in 2027.
