Peacock announced that the second season of Ted, the comedy series created by Seth MacFarlane featuring a talking teddy bear, will premiere next year. The show, based on the original movie, has been a big success for Peacock, attracting viewers and new subscribers.
Season 2 of Ted will premiere all eight episodes on Peacock on March 5, 2026. The season will feature the returning cast, including creator Seth MacFarlane, who voices and provides the performance capture for Ted, as well as Max Burkholder, Scott Grimes, Allana Ubach, and Giorgia Whigham. This Ted series on Peacock is a prequel to the 2012 movie.
Peacock Reveals Ted Season 2 Release Date and First Look Images
I’m so excited for season two of Ted! Along with the release date, Peacock just dropped some first-look photos, and they’re hilarious. We get to see Ted and John decked out in full knight armor, which is amazing. There’s also a funny shot of Ted relaxing with a woman in a bubble bath, a sweet picture of the whole cast hanging out, and a classic Ted and John argument. Seriously, I can’t wait!
Two Ted movies have been released—the first in 2012 and Ted 2 in 2015. While a third film has been discussed, Universal is currently expanding the story with a series on Peacock, as well as another project planned for the streaming service.
The new animated series brings back Seth MacFarlane and Mark Wahlberg, who played John in the Ted movies. This isn’t a story about the past; it continues the series in the present day, following the events of the two previous films. Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Barth also return as their characters, Sam and Tami-Lynn. Kyle Mooney and Liz Richman join the cast, voicing the new characters Apollo and Ruth.
Seth MacFarlane’s Original Ted Pitch Was for a Cartoon
A movie about a talking bear might seem better suited for a cartoon, and that’s actually how Seth MacFarlane originally presented the idea.
In 2024, Seth MacFarlane recalled a time during the merger of Time Warner and Turner when the company was unsure how to utilize its creative teams.
Everyone was just hanging around while the company was in complete disarray. Management didn’t want to lay us all off because they needed artists and writers ready when things eventually got back on track. As a result, we were asked to come up with ideas for an animated show each week. One of those initial concepts was actually called Ted.
The Peacock series Ted is set in 1993, a while after Ted had his brief period of fame. Now, he’s back living with his family in Framingham, Massachusetts. He shares a home with his best friend John, who is 16 years old, his parents Matty and Susan, and his cousin Blaire.
The story focuses on Ted, who, despite potentially being a bad influence on John, is a deeply loyal friend and will always risk anything for those he cares about.
Ted Season 2 premieres March 5, 2026 on Peacock.
