Taylor Sheridan’s New 13-Part Yellowstone Spinoff Officially Breaks 8-Year Viewership Record

Despite some negative feedback, the new series quickly became a success for CBS. Its first episode last Sunday attracted more viewers than any other show on the network, setting a new record.

The premiere of Marshals attracted 9.52 million viewers, making it the most-watched scripted show debut of the 2025-26 season. It also had the biggest same-day audience for a new scripted series on broadcast television without a football game leading into it since FBI was watched by over 10 million people in September 2018.

There’s one thing to keep in mind: Nielsen, the company that measures TV ratings, has updated how it collects data several times since 2018. This makes it difficult to directly compare the numbers to the show FBI. Despite this, it’s clear that Marshals has gotten off to a very promising start on CBS.

Marshals Beats a Popular ABC Show for Biggest Audience of 2025-26

Even if you don’t think of the first episode of Marshals as a big event, it still drew the largest audience of any show so far this season, though it was a close race. Previously, the finale of Dancing With the Stars on ABC had been the most-watched network series episode this season, with 9.43 million viewers.
