Sydney Sweeney’s “Titillating” New R-Rated Thriller Cleans Up With Surprising Rotten Tomatoes Score

With Sydney Sweeney starring in so many recent projects, you might not have high expectations for her new R-rated thriller, The Housemaid. Her last three films – Christy, Eden, and Echo Valley – weren’t successful with either audiences or critics. But it looks like her latest movie, co-starring Amanda Seyfried, could be a turning point.

Paul Feig’s film, The Housemaid, is based on Freida McFadden’s popular 2022 novel. McFadden has quickly become a favorite author in the thriller genre, and her fans have high hopes for the movie. Early reviews suggest it lives up to expectations, with a 78% rating on Rotten Tomatoes as of today. Megan Navarro of Bloody Disgusting notes that…

This adaptation of the popular novel takes all the scandalous and shocking parts and turns them up a notch. It’s a really fun and intense psychological thriller that allows Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney to deliver hilarious and surprisingly violent performances.

Paul Feig’s The Housemaid takes viewers into a deceptive and unsettling world where appearances can be deceiving. Millie, hoping for a fresh start, takes a live-in housekeeping position with the affluent Winchesters – Nina and Andrew. What seems like a perfect opportunity soon turns dangerous, becoming a thrilling game of secrets, lies, and control. The Winchesters hide shocking truths behind closed doors, and the story will keep you guessing until the very last moment.

‘The Housemaid’ Could Be the Start of a Beautiful Franchise

I’m so excited for The Housemaid to come out this Friday, December 19th! I’ve heard it might be the first of three movies if people love it, which I really hope happens. The author, McFadden, has already written two more books in the series – The Housemaid’s Secret and The Housemaid Is Watching – plus a short story called The Housemaid’s Wedding. So, there’s definitely a lot more story to tell if this first movie does well. And things are already looking promising – Mark Kennedy from the Associated Press seems to really like it!

This holiday season, we received an unexpected gift: a thrilling and unsettling horror movie. It’s surprisingly empowering, despite being a bit edgy with its mature content. Ultimately, it’s a surprisingly good find!

Everyone’s talking about The Housemaid – they’re calling it thrilling, captivating, and even wildly entertaining! It opens in theaters nationwide this weekend, courtesy of Lionsgate, so be sure to check it out.
