Growing up in the 2000s, I have mixed feelings about fashion trends from that era returning. While I’m happy to leave some things in the past – like low-rise jeans – I’m seeing others come back, like the emo/goth look with heavy eyeliner and messy hair. Sydney Sweeney recently showcased this trend at the GQ Men of the Year event.
A makeup mistake could have given Sydney Sweeney a dark circle around her eyes, but the show’s makeup artist nailed the look – which is common for the actresses on Euphoria. The bold eyeliner was balanced by a simple lip, and her sleek black dress flowed on the floor, with the velvet creating a shiny, wet effect. Her hair was freshly cut and styled to look casually messy, like she’d just been to the beach. While not her most dramatic outfit ever, it had a lovely vintage feel that I really liked.

The dress was likely a vintage piece. The magazine shared on social media that the celebrity’s outfit was a stunning Versace design from 1995, originally modeled by Eva Herzigov on the runway and created by Gianni Versace. The choker and eyeliner added to the late 90s vibe, and I appreciate how simple, yet elegant and well-fitting the whole look is.
The actress has worn black outfits before – I especially remember a striking black dress with a unique floral top, and a cute black romper she wore near the time of Jeff Bezos’ wedding. But this particular outfit is one of her best yet.
Throughout the night, actress Sydney Sweeney was spotted with online personality Amélie Tremblay. They posed together on the red carpet, and a video appears to have been taken from a car around the same time, showing both of them playfully posing for the camera.

I was at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles this week for a fantastic event, and the red carpet was packed! So many stars came out – Paris Jackson, Halle Bailey, Olivia Rodrigo, Shaboozey, Noah Baumbach, Offset, Becky G, Carrie Coon, Lizzo, Rachel Sennott, John C. Reilly, and of course, Sydney Sweeney and Thomasin McKenzie were there too. It was quite a night!
