James Gunn’s Superman film, which I reviewed positively earlier this year, featured a standout performance by Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen. Luckily, many people agreed, and a spin-off series focusing on his character is now in development. The project was already promising, but excitement has increased with the announcement of two skilled showrunners and the reveal of the main villain for the first season.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, the creators of the popular Netflix series American Vandal, will be leading the new Jimmy Olsen spinoff series as executive producers and showrunners. The series doesn’t have a title yet. The report also reveals that Gorilla Grodd, the super-intelligent ape, will return to live-action after previously appearing in the Arrowverse, and will play a significant role.
