Okay, so the trailer for Supergirl is finally here, and I’m already excited! We get our first glimpse of Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, and it looks like she’s facing off against some seriously cool villains. Craig Gillespie, who directed I, Tonya, is at the helm, and the script is by Ana Nogueira – I hear she’s already working on a Wonder Woman project for the new DCU. This is the second movie in James Gunn’s connected universe, and it’s great to see Superman’s cousin finally getting her moment to shine.
The upcoming movie centers on Kara’s journey across planets, driven by a quest for revenge. She uses the sad story of a young girl to justify her actions, but her path of vengeance won’t be easy. Supergirl will face numerous powerful enemies, including Lobo and Krem of the Yellow Hills, who are confirmed to appear in the 2026 film. These won’t be the only challenges she encounters, however.
The first trailer for Supergirl is now online, and it offers a glimpse of the movie’s villains, hinting at the challenges she’ll face in this new DC Universe story.
The new Supergirl movie will star Milly Alcock, known for her role in House of the Dragon, alongside Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, and Jason Momoa. It’s set to be the second film in the new DC Universe (and the fourth DC project released overall) and is scheduled to hit theaters on June 26, 2026.
Who Are the Villains In Supergirl 2026 Movie?
Lobo

Lobo, the popular DC anti-hero, will join the cast of Supergirl as a villain. Jason Momoa, known for playing Aquaman in the previous DC Universe films, will reprise his role as the tough and intense character.
Lobo, a tough alien bounty hunter who enjoys cigars, briefly appears in the first trailer for the movie. He’s seen walking through the debris of a destroyed space station, carrying his signature axe and with a cigar lit in his mouth. (You can find more details about his axe here.) It looks like he’ll cross paths with Kara and her friend Ruthye during their travels.
Some DC Comics fans might be surprised to see Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl movie. The film is expected to closely follow the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic book storyline, which doesn’t include the character. However, since the movie is being promoted as an intergalactic chase, adding an alien bounty hunter like Lobo actually makes sense.
Krem of the Yellow Hills

Although Lobo is well-known and connected to the upcoming Supergirl movie, it appears that Krem of the Yellow Hills will actually be the main villain. In the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic book storyline, Krem is the primary antagonist, responsible for the death of Ruthye Marye Knoll’s father, an event that captures Kara’s attention.
Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts will play the character in the new film, showcasing his skills with a bow and his quick wit. While it’s unclear if he appeared in the first trailer for Supergirl, one character with yellow skin and large spikes on his face briefly appears, leading some to believe it’s a glimpse of this iconic villain as he’ll appear in the DC Universe.
The character of Krem will have a drastically different appearance in the upcoming movie compared to how he’s portrayed in the comics. In the “Woman of Tomorrow” series, he’s depicted as a rugged, almost Robin Hood-like figure, with long red hair, a beard, and no shirt. Because reports have already indicated a visual change, the alien with prominent teeth shown in the trailer is likely Krem.
Space Pirate Goons
The main villains in the upcoming Supergirl movie are a group of space pirates who feature heavily in the new trailer. Although characters like Krem of the Yellow Hills and Lobo are getting a lot of attention, these Space Pirate Goons will be responsible for most of the action in the 2026 film.
In Supergirl, Kara and Ruthye are being pursued by dangerous enemies, leading to several action-packed fight scenes. The new trailer offers a preview of these battles, showcasing Supergirl skillfully defending herself using both her Kryptonian powers and an arsenal of weapons from space pirates, including blades, flails, and other tools.
Every superhero movie needs minor characters who are easily defeated, and it looks like these Space Pirates will fill that role for Supergirl.
