MCU News: Spider-Noir, Avengers: Doomsday Updates, And More

The biggest superhero news this week was the first trailer for Sony’s Spider-Noir, featuring Nicolas Cage. The trailer, released in both black and white and color, hints at exciting action and a compelling mystery as this gritty, 1930s detective version of Spider-Man makes his live-action debut.

Sony is reportedly developing spin-off projects for Spider-Gwen and Spider-Punk, following the release of trailers for Spider-Noir. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed these projects are currently in the works.

New merchandise for the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie has appeared online, and it includes our first clear view of several characters’ costumes. The biggest reveal is the full Scorpion suit worn by Michael Mando, who plays Mac Gargan. Fans are especially excited to see this complete look at the villain.

The Russo brothers, known for directing several Marvel films, recently hinted that their upcoming project, Avengers: Doomsday, will be significantly different and more ambitious than previous Marvel Cinematic Universe releases.

We’ve really pushed the boundaries of storytelling with these films, and I think ‘Doomsday’ represents a new high point in terms of narrative complexity and challenge.

The Russos checked with Marvel and learned that Doctor Doom has a very specific way he needs to sound. They’re happy with the direction the upcoming Avengers film is taking to achieve that tone.

Marvel Studios has shared a trailer for a fictional 1980s movie called Wonder Man. This in-universe trailer explains how Simon Williams, the character, became an actor – and ultimately landed the role in the new Wonder Man series.

During the Super Bowl, Robert Downey Jr. and his wife shared a photo of themselves wearing awesome football jerseys designed after the Marvel villain Doctor Doom. This was a playful hint at Downey’s future appearance in the movie Avengers: Doomsday.

While discussing his new film, Cold Storage, actor Joe Keery (known for Stranger Things) addressed speculation that he might play Harry Osborn in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He admitted he would be thrilled to take on the role if offered it.

Chris Hemsworth hinted at a possible future team-up between Thor and Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe while discussing his new movie, Crime 101. He also stated that Avengers: Doomsday will be incredibly impressive, but didn’t offer many details about a Thor/Loki reunion when asked.

As a big fan of WandaVision, I was surprised to hear that Jac Schaeffer, the creator of that show and Agatha All Along, has signed a new three-year deal with Amazon MGM Studios. It sounds like we probably won’t see her back producing anything for the MCU for a while, which is a shame, but I’m also really curious to see what she does with Amazon!

DCU News: Supergirl Takeover, Lantenrs, And More

To build excitement for the upcoming Supergirl movie in June, DC Comics is launching “Summer of Supergirl.” As part of this, Supergirl will be featured prominently in April, taking over the traditionally Superman-focused celebrations with special comic book covers and releases.

I’m so excited for the upcoming Lanterns show! There was some worry that Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart wouldn’t get his Green Lantern ring right away, having to earn it throughout the series. But thankfully, Tom King, a legendary comic book writer and one of the show’s screenwriters, has confirmed that both Hal Jordan and John Stewart will be rocking their rings from the start! It’s going to be amazing to see them both in action.

While discussing her latest film, Wuthering Heights, director Emerald Fennell shared details about a Zatanna script she wrote for Warner Bros. years ago. This script was created when the studio was planning a Justice League Dark series with J.J. Abrams.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, DC Studios plans to make the Batman seen in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe look different from Matt Reeves’ The Batman. This likely means the new Batman could have classic features fans have wanted for a long time, such as a blue cape and cowl, or white contacts, to distinguish him from Robert Pattinson’s portrayal.
