Another Street Fighter movie is in the works, following previous adaptations in 1994 and 2009. The cast was recently revealed in a fun, throwback-style announcement, and rapper 50 Cent is among those starring. Filming began a month ago for the movie, scheduled for release in 2026, and 50 Cent has been sharing videos of his rigorous training for his role as Balrog.
The first video that 50 Cent posted on his Instagram page shows flashing black and white footage of him jumproping, set to James Brown “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World.” As you can see, he’s working up quite the sweat so he’s in shape to play Balrog, who was introduced to the video game franchise in 1991’s Street Fighter II.

50 Cent is taking his training for the role of Balrog very seriously, getting into impressive physical shape for the Street Fighter adaptation. A recent video shows him intensely working out, hitting a punching bag to the beat of his song, “Many Men (Death Wish),” demonstrating his dedication to the part and the physicality it requires, as seen in his role in Expend4bles.

As a movie critic, I’m keeping a close eye on how faithfully this *Street Fighter* adaptation sticks to the games, and if it does, 50 Cent’s role as Balrog suggests he’ll be working for the villain, M. Bison – played by David Dastmalchian. Now, will the movie follow that established dynamic, or will they shake things up? Either way, 50 Cent looks ready to rumble as the latest actor to step into Balrog’s boxing gloves, following in the footsteps of Grand L. Bush from the original ’94 film and Michael Clarke Duncan from *The Legend of Chun-Li*.

7 Immediate Questions I Have Now That The Main Cast Has Been Revealed For The Street Fighter Movie
I’m really excited about the potential look of the Street Fighter movie, especially this fan art showing Cody Rhodes as Guile, 50 Cent as Balrog, and other characters. It’s exactly the vibe I was hoping for!
The upcoming movie *Street Fighter*, set in 1993, centers around Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken (Noah Centineo) as they’re recruited by Chun-Li (Callina Liang) to compete in the World Warrior Tournament, where they uncover a dangerous plot. The film also stars Jason Momoa as Blanka, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalism, Eric André as Don Sauvage, Orville Peck as Vega, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Mel Jarnson as Cammy, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, and Alexander Volkanovski as Joe. Kitao Sakurai directs the film, based on a screenplay by Dalan Musson.
The upcoming *Street Fighter* movie will now be released by Paramount Pictures, alongside Legendary Pictures and Capcom, instead of Sony. It hits theaters on October 16, 2026, just a week after Paramount’s *The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender*.
