Streamer’s New 10-Part Sci-Fi Comedy Series Debuts To Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score Ahead Of Release

Okay, so I’m a bit of a Rotten Tomatoes junkie, and I just saw that Peacock’s new show actually pulled off a perfect score. Seriously, that’s a huge deal! It’s rare to see anything get universal acclaim like that, so I’m definitely adding it to my watchlist.

Peacock, the streaming service from NBCUniversal that launched in 2020, is known for its popular and highly-rated shows like The Day of the Jackal, Poker Face, and Bel-Air. This year has seen several successful premieres, including Ponies, which earned an impressive 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, a new series on Peacock has achieved something even rarer: a perfect score from critics.

The Miniature Wife Debuts To Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score

Before it even launched, the new Peacock series The Miniature Wife earned a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. Created by Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner, the show centers on a couple struggling with power dynamics in their marriage, which takes a bizarre twist when a technical error reduces the wife to just six inches tall.

The film stars Elizabeth Banks, a four-time Emmy nominee, and Matthew Macfadyen, who has won two Emmys for his role in Succession. They play a married couple, and the cast also includes Zoe Lister-Jones, Sofia Rosinsky, O-T Fagbenle (an Emmy nominee known for The Handmaid’s Tale), Sian Clifford (an Emmy nominee from Fleabag), Emmy winner Ronny Chieng (The Daily Show), Aasif Mandvi, Rong Fu, and Tricia Black.

Just before its release on April 9th, the new show The Miniature Wife has earned a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, this score is based on only five reviews so far, and may change as more come in. We’ll also get a better idea of what viewers think once all ten episodes are available on Thursday.

What Critics Are Saying About The Miniature Wife

Ben Gibbons from ScreenRant rated The Miniature Wife 7 out of 10 stars in his review, stating:

Starring Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen, this sci-fi comedy is delightful and engaging, though its premise isn’t entirely original. The series is genuinely funny, and the talented cast expertly builds a simple idea into a lively, quick-paced, and thoroughly enjoyable show.

Reviews for The Miniature Wife are overwhelmingly positive, highlighting its creativity and originality. While some viewers might find the story a little disjointed or unsure what genre it fully fits into, critics particularly praise the film’s imaginative detours and the unexpected ways its science fiction world unfolds.

Many viewers found the powerful acting and emotional impact more compelling than the plot itself. Though some critics felt the movie was a bit too long for its story, they praised the performances and strong finish, even comparing it to The War of the Roses. Most agree that The Miniature Wife is somewhat disorganized, but ultimately satisfying.
