The final episodes of Stranger Things Season 5 are arriving soon, and things are looking grim for the characters in Hawkins, Indiana. Volume 2 includes three new episodes, and co-creator Ross Duffer has hinted that these episodes will be particularly frightening and challenging for the kids.
The fifth season of Stranger Things premiered in November with the first four episodes. The remaining episodes, five through seven, will be released as Volume 2.
The fifth episode, titled “Chapter Five: Shock Jock,” features a return by director Frank Darabont, who also helmed the third episode, “Chapter Three: The Turnbow Trap.” According to one of the show’s creators, this new episode is a significant departure from his previous work on the series, being much more intense and frightening. That doesn’t bode well for our characters.
Episode 6, titled “Chapter Six: Escape from Camazotz,” is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious episodes of Stranger Things yet. Director Shawn Levy has crafted a truly impactful installment, with the Duffer brothers hinting that the performances are incredibly moving. However, they also suggest things don’t look promising for one of the characters.
The second-to-last episode of the series, Episode 7, is called “Chapter Seven: The Bridge.” The Duffer Brothers hint that it’s likely the most emotionally impactful episode of the season, outside of the finale, and that’s considering everything that’s already happened.
Stranger Things Is Nearing the End
These recent hints about the upcoming episodes suggest some sad scenes are coming, but Stranger Things fans weren’t surprised. The creators previously mentioned that the final season was a very emotional experience, even for the cast.
It really hit us all on the last day, but I’d actually been preparing for it beforehand. I was writing goodbye notes and thank you letters, just reflecting on all the memories I’d made with everyone. It helped me realize how much these people had influenced my growth, and it was tough to say goodbye and move on.
That wraps up episodes 5, 6, and 7 of Stranger Things Season 5. The last episode, titled “Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up,” is as long as a movie and will be shown like one – both on Netflix and with a special limited showing on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
Even before the release of its fifth season, Stranger Things was once again at the top of Netflix’s most-watched list. In fact, it’s the first time any show on the platform has had all of its seasons remain on the chart simultaneously since a new season premiered.
While the first part of the final season of Stranger Things didn’t receive quite the same enthusiastic response as previous seasons, an 84% approval rating is still very good. Hopefully, the second part of Season 5 will improve that score even further.
Stranger Things Season 5, Volume 2 debuts on Netflix on Christmas Day, Dec. 25.
