The trailer for Stranger Things season 5 is out, giving fans a sneak peek at what to expect in the show’s final season. After a long wait since the end of season 4, we’re finally getting a glimpse of the story that will conclude Stranger Things, ahead of its release in November 2025.
As a huge fan of Stranger Things, I was so excited to hear that Netflix is letting us watch the first five minutes of the first episode on November 6th! It really shows how all-out they’re going with the promotion for this final season. Honestly, it makes total sense – Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s biggest shows ever, so they’re clearly pulling out all the stops.
Just before the new season arrives, Netflix has shared the first trailer for Stranger Things season 5. After a three-year wait since season 4, fans can revisit the spooky town of Hawkins and the mysterious Upside Down. With the fate of the characters hanging in the balance, and facing terrifying creatures, incredible powers, and different dimensions, here are the 15 most important things we learned from the trailer.
Vecna’s Base Is Seemingly In A Major Hawkins Location

The trailer for Stranger Things season 5 begins with Vecna, the show’s primary villain, preparing his monster army in the Upside Down. Although we saw hints of him attacking Hawkins in season 4, it appears Vecna has been secretly building his strength, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Unlike season 4, where we saw the Upside Down version of his childhood home, the trailer for Stranger Things season 5 suggests Vecna’s main location has changed. The trailer’s first shot appears to show him in the Upside Down version of Hawkins town hall, beautifully highlighting how Hawkins will be central to the show’s final season.

Ever since the fourth season of Stranger Things came out, many fans have speculated about a time jump to explain the beginning of season 5. It now appears those rumors were correct. The trailer for the fifth season opens with Vecna declaring, “At long last, we can begin.” He’s been patiently waiting, and season 5 will show the full start of his invasion.
Hawkins Has Been Locked Down By The Military After Stranger Things Season 4

At the end of Stranger Things season 4, the creepy alternate dimension known as the Upside Down started to bleed into the town of Hawkins. The trailer for season 5 shows the military is still involved, and Mike mentions Hawkins is now under lockdown. It’s unclear if this means they’ve managed to stop the Upside Down’s spread, or if it’s continuing.
The people of Hawkins feel trapped, unable to escape their small town. Mike expresses his frustration, saying, “I’m really starting to lose it, being stuck in here. No end in sight,” and the scene shows a military presence reinforcing that feeling of confinement.
Eddie Munson’s Legacy Lives On

Recent fan theories about Eddie Munson’s return in Stranger Things season 5 have been proven wrong. The show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, have confirmed that Joseph Quinn’s character will stay dead after the events of season 4. However, Eddie’s memory will live on, as his friend Dustin is seen wearing a Hellfire Club shirt in remembrance.
Stranger Things’ Cast Plan To End Vecna For Good

The actors who started as kids on Stranger Things are all grown up now, but the show is introducing a new, younger cast. In the latest trailer, these new characters come up with a plan to finally defeat Vecna.
It’s notable that Hopper isn’t at this meeting, while Joyce is. Regardless, it’s clear the characters in Stranger Things are no longer just reacting to threats. In the final season, they’ll take the fight to Vecna and actively try to defeat him once and for all.

Hopper missing the first meeting makes sense, considering he was with Eleven in the Upside Down. This trip seems to be a key part of their plan to stop Vecna, and it probably involves Eleven using her newly enhanced abilities.
As a huge fan of Stranger Things, I’ve always noticed Eleven really shines when she’s pushed to her limits. But the new trailer for season 5? It’s giving me hope that’s changing! It looks like she’s finally getting a real handle on her abilities. We’re seeing her effortlessly fly and even deflect huge rocks – it’s amazing! It seems like she’s stronger and more in control than ever before, and I can’t wait to see what she can do.
Vecna’s Plan Will End Our World

Okay, so season 5 of Stranger Things looks absolutely insane! We already learned in season 4 that Vecna isn’t just messing around – he genuinely wants to destroy our world, as Nancy pointed out. But the new trailer really hammers that home. It’s showing even more tears between our world and the Upside Down, giant rocks floating above Hawkins in that creepy alternate dimension, and even a full-on Demogorgon attack. Honestly, it all feels like the beginning of the end – like things are really about to go down for good.
Stranger Things’ Original Villains Will Return

Vecna became the main villain in season 4 of Stranger Things, pushing creatures like the Demogorgon and Demodogs into the background. However, the trailer for season 5 shows these older monsters returning, and it looks like they’re now Vecna’s army.
Hawkins’ Lab Remains Crucial In Stranger Things Season 5

A major visual highlight of the Stranger Things season 5 trailer is Hawkins Lab, a key location from the show’s early seasons. While season 4 didn’t feature the lab as prominently, the new trailer reveals a massive energy shield surrounding the building.
Many questions are still unanswered about the new force field – its purpose, who built it, and how it impacts Vecna’s plans. However, one thing is certain: Hawkins Lab will be a key setting in the fifth season of Stranger Things.
Stranger Things Season 5’s Trailer Promises Massive Stakes

Ever since the last season finished, fans have been intensely debating which characters from Stranger Things might die in the final season. While the season 5 trailer doesn’t give away any major deaths, it definitely suggests the stakes are much higher this time around.
The trailer features several emotional moments, like Dustin comforting Steve and Nancy washing blood from her hands, suggesting the upcoming fifth season of Stranger Things will be filled with loss and heartbreak. These scenes, along with others showing the characters hugging and supporting each other, strongly hint at significant deaths and incredibly high stakes.
