Season 5 of Stranger Things will reportedly introduce a new ability for Eleven that resembles a power used by a well-known character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
What is Eleven’s new power?
The latest trailer for Stranger Things Season 5 shows Eleven, portrayed by Millie Bobby Brown, using her powers – like telepathy and moving things with her mind – to protect Hawkins from Vecna and the monsters from the Upside Down. The trailer hints at a significant increase in her abilities, suggesting she’s reached a new level of power.
In an interview with EW, the creators of the show, the Duffer Brothers, explained Eleven’s recently discovered ability to travel between places instantly. They noted that this power is similar to that of Wanda Maximoff, a very powerful character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Ross Duffer described how the character appears to move as if she’s pushing off the ground to launch herself upwards. It’s not actual flying, but more like a powerful boost that sends her high into the air.
As a fan, I’m really worried about Eleven! She’s going to have to push herself to the absolute limit and use everything she’s got to beat Vecna. The creators, the Duffers, have said they wanted to make him truly terrifying this season, and honestly, they’ve succeeded – he looks way more powerful and intimidating now. These final episodes are going to be intense!
Ross explained that Vecna has essentially reconstructed his body, which accounts for the visible gaps and openings. He’s no longer fully human, having become increasingly connected to the Upside Down, and any trace of his original humanity is fading.
The Duffer Brothers said Vecna’s appearance in Season 5 will be similar to Darth Vader’s dramatic entrance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Ross Duffer explained that this season will fully showcase Vecna’s abilities.
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things will be released on Netflix in three parts. The first four episodes will be available starting November 26th, followed by three more episodes on December 25th. The final two episodes will conclude the series on December 31st, and will also be shown in some cinemas.
