A new installment of Stranger Things is on its way, and Netflix has just announced when it will be released. This upcoming story will be a first for the series. Even though the last season finished almost a month ago, Stranger Things remains incredibly popular, currently ranking as the 7th most-watched show on Netflix globally.
It really speaks to how great the show is that even though the main story has wrapped up, they’re already working on spin-offs! After season 5 left us all wondering what would happen to Eleven, a lot of fans were hoping for more of her story. While the new release isn’t exactly that, I’m happy to say Eleven will definitely be back, which is fantastic news!
Eleven’s Stranger Things Return Date Has Been Revealed
We already knew the first Stranger Things spin-off would be an animated series called Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, and now we have more details. The show will take place between the second and third seasons of the Netflix hit. Because time has passed, Millie Bobby Brown won’t be reprising her role as Eleven – the character will be voiced by a new actress.
The new sci-fi series Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 is coming to Netflix in 2026, though a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet. However, the first chapter book, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 Chapter Book #1, will be released on September 1st, 2026. The book will feature Eleven and her friends investigating a new mystery in Hawkins.
The new series will bring back familiar faces – Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Will, Max, and Dustin – along with a brand new character named Nikki. This is the first time the show’s established story has been changed. The group will investigate a Lost and Found box contaminated with spores from the Upside Down, kicking off a thrilling new mystery.

The animated Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 and its companion books will undoubtedly explore many elements that were not used by the original series. That much has been made clear with the synopsis for Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 Chapter Book #1, and I could not be more excited to finally get into a Stranger Things story where Hawkins is covered in snow.
This is the first time the “Stranger Things” universe has shown a significant amount of snow – previously, we only saw it briefly when Hopper left Eggos for Eleven. With the show continuing beyond the original storyline, it’s exciting to finally see the group having an adventure in the snow, something the main series never really explored.
