Stranger Things Director Calls Claims of Rift Between Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour “Wildly Inaccurate

Reports that Millie Bobby Brown made extensive accusations against her Stranger Things co-star David Harbour seem to be untrue, as the show’s director has described them as “wildly inaccurate.”

Last Saturday night, the Daily Mail published a story claiming David Harbour mistreated his on-screen daughter, sparking a lot of discussion online. People quickly pointed out the report relied solely on a friend of Harbour’s ex-wife as a source. So far, neither Netflix nor the actress involved has confirmed the claims.

The timing of it all just felt…weird. David Harbour’s ex, Lily Allen, had just dropped a really raw, honest album about their relationship – seriously, Rolling Stone called it the most brutally honest album of the year. And he was right in the middle of promoting the final season of Stranger Things, which, as you can imagine, is a huge deal. It felt like a lot was happening at once, and it definitely got people talking.

Looking Back

I recently came across a bit of an awkward moment from an MTV interview back in March. It’s been resurfaced now, and it shows Millie Bobby Brown looking a little uncomfortable when the interviewer, Josh Horowitz, jokingly mentioned David Harbour as potentially officiating her wedding to Jake Bongiovi. The New York Post shared the clip on Tuesday, and it’s definitely got people talking.

Brown, apparently uncomfortable, replied, “I don’t know how I feel [about that]. Sure.”

Interestingly, Matthew Modine, who plays her TV dad on Stranger Things, actually ended up officiating the ceremony. It’s not clear why Millie Brown paused; she might have just been a little uncomfortable with the surprise. Unless she decides to talk about it more, we’ll likely never know exactly what she was thinking at that moment.

As Ross and Matt Duffer, the creators of Stranger Things, were arriving at an event Thursday night, The Hollywood Reporter immediately questioned them about the recent accusations.

Ross Duffer explained that he can’t discuss what happens behind the scenes personally, but emphasized the strong bond the cast and crew have built over ten years. He said their priority is always ensuring a safe and positive environment for everyone on set, because they genuinely care about the well-being of the cast and crew, who feel like family.

Director and executive producer Shawn Levy addressed the recent rumors, saying many reports are inaccurate and there’s a lot of misinformation circulating. He emphasized that the cast and crew are like family and are always treated with respect.

Also at the premiere were Brown and Harbour, who appeared perfectly natural together.
