After almost ten years, the series Stranger Things has concluded, but dedicated fans are still searching for clues and hidden references that suggest the story might not be completely finished.
The hashtag #ConformityGate is currently a global trend, and it’s causing a lot of anxiety for fans of Stranger Things. Many are frantically looking for clues that the show might not be truly over, closely examining hidden details, codes, and other hints that suggest the final episode, released on December 31st, could be a hoax.
Fans have spotted a few details that suggest the finale might not be what it seems. These include the way the graduation crowd held their hands – resembling a pose from Henry Creel – and the Dungeons & Dragons books shown at the end, which, when their titles were combined, seemed to spell out “A Lie,” possibly hinting at Dimension X or The Abyss. The date January 7th also appears to be important, as the number 7 has been a recurring theme throughout the fifth season.
The fifth season had eight episodes, culminating in a feature-length finale of over two hours. In that final episode, the heroes of Hawkins managed to defeat both the Mind Flayer and Vecna (played by Jamie Campbell Bower). However, the victory came at a heartbreaking cost, as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) made the ultimate sacrifice to protect her family and the world.

Okay, so the ending was intense, right? But then Mike (Finn Wolfhard) hinted that Eleven might not actually be gone, that she somehow escaped! It got me thinking… and apparently, the Duffer Brothers are keeping the real truth super close to the vest. They’ve said in an interview with Happy Sad Podcast that only they and Millie Bobby Brown (who plays Eleven) actually know what really happened to her. It’s driving me crazy, but also… I kind of love the mystery!
Although it’s unknown if there will be another season, the creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, have announced two spin-off shows to continue the story beyond the main series.
